Root Question about Nandroid Backups.

So I was wondering, lets say when I first rooted from 2.1 to xtrROM, is there still a file that has my old 2.1 data on it?

also when I got from 2.2 KF V34 to Nonsensikal or Tazz, when I back it up through nandroid, are there multiple save points?

Is there a way to do that?

Every time you do a Nandroid, it will save your phone in the exact state it was in. Just rename the back ups so you know which one is which and then you can just restore to which ever one you want to, when you feel like it. You can have quite a few saved up. The only issue you might have is if you had apps 2 sd or cache 2 sd set up when you were on a 2.1 rom. Your SD card will wonder why it doesn't have the extension set up any more. If you didn't have those things, then it's a simple restore, reboot, enjoy. Hope this helps...

That assumes you did a nandroid backup before you did the wipe and flashed the new rom.

I will say that I'm glad I did the backup just after rooting and before flashing the new rom, because now that I'm having trouble with the phone (I believe hardware, not as a result of root) I can go right back to my first nandroid backup and have the stock firmware loaded when I take it back to Verizon.

Well, your phone would look and act like it was before you rooted, but you would still have the issue of having a custom recovery installed on your phone. Its not likely that they would catch this, but they could...

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy. Can anyone tell me how to access Nandroid Backup on this phone? I read to press both volume buttons while powering on, but all that does is give me a big green battery image on my phone and doesn't let me into the same backup recovery screens I saw when I rooted my HTC Eris.

If you rename them your self you can save 3 different nandroid's (or more) that are fully fuctional and working a quick restore will put you back to a different rom in minutes with all your settings.

Only thing you mite want to wipe each time is your battery stats if your going from kernel to kernel.

There is no reason to believe that rooting methods or installed custom recoveries are the same from phone to phone. I suppose there are phones for which Clockwork is used as the recovery, and other phones in which the "rooting" which is done only modifies the main O/S, and doesn't touch the recovery.

You should ask your question in the appropriate forum - there are four different Samsung Galaxy S models, and three or four other "Galaxy" models, including tablets, right?

I have to admit I think it is really cool too. This weekend the whole family was geeking out on new apps and games.

My original Android was the HTC Eris. That's been rooted with KaosFroyo on it. My son now has that.

Wife just got the HTC Incredible.

I got the Samsung Fascinate and my work phone is the original Motorola Droid.

Just purchased a CallPod charging station at the Verizon store. One charger that can charge up to 6 phones/MP3 players/game hand helds at once. Very nice little gizmo.

I'm getting a replacement on Wednesday. Good tech support on the phone.
Better safe than sorry. I flashed the RUU app from my PC and it's unrooted now.
