Alright folks. Im having a strange issue.

I downloaded Rom Manager and Flashed Clockwork (version 2.5.1.0).

It downloaded with no problems.

But, when i get into recovery, i get the following message:

--Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I have removed ROM manager and tried again. i have cleared download cache and still failed.

Any help you all can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Exact same issue here, and I see it is repeated around various other forums, with some successes and some failures as described in your post.

Interesting.

Some are even attempting to remedy the problem with a method using Odin, outlined at XDA. Something such as that should not have to be done with a Market app, imo.

Frisco....you stated you have had the same issue?

Did you flash clockwork AFTER having Ryans LagFix??

I have successfully installed Clockworkmod, and the battery zip provided in another thread.

I had purchased the premium license.. and it remains. I uninstalled the ROM manager and used the Odin method from the link to XDA; worked fine.

I think the Market download won't work because the recovery image is not first installed, I'm not certain of that.

But, again, the method using Odin does the job. ;)

Right, but im relaying some info to Koush. When you recieved the error that i had first recieved (before Odin or anything else), did you have LagFix installed?

I tried removing LagFix, as suggested at XDA, but got the same results.

I then uninstalled my Market version of CWM and rebooted, then went down the method outlined at XDA.

It went as noted there, then I learned the recovery menu as well; it's shown a bit further down the page there.

Then I re-downloaded my premium license from Market.

Next I flashed the battery zip and it worked and looks great.

Bring on the ROMs. ;)

Awesome. You basically had to do the same method i did. Thanks for the info :)

Yes. They are proudly geeky over there, and a great resource.

90% of my Eris ROM links are XDA.

Now to await the first 2.2 ROM for this Fascinate.

Whats bad is i post at both sites. But, i much prefer to hang out here. I sometimes forget how helpful XDA can be.

Im hoping that the first 2.2 leak will be soon. Captivate got theirs....now its our turn!

We're a bit better moderated here at AF, if I do say so myself. ;)

But that's the place for most tech info, and for the donate links to the developers of the ROMs.

Yeah, the Captivate Froyo is in the hands of some users already; perhaps we'll be seeing ours before Halloween. :)

Indeed. With all the great guides and everything. ;)

Yeah this is definitely a more social places. There is a decent knowledge base here but with all due respect this is still the minor leagues. xda is the big show. However, as noted there is an element of community absent there that I do find here. I mean the guys are all nice and great and I suppose if I spent the sheer quantity of time there I did here I might find a different experience. I could say the same of the AC Forums. Which I would place in between us here and xda both in terms of socialization and knowledge/learning

I am having this same issue too. I installed CWM from the XDA site, not the market, and I have the lag fix installed too. I did also have this problem without the lag fix though. I have been trying to back up my current ROM just in case something good comes out, but get this error every time. If I have already used the XDA process for installing CWM, what else can I do to fix it?

Have you successfully entered into clockwork recovery?
