Help Front-Facing Camera and Video Chat?

FFC is something I would never use. I hate calling people and talking, why would I wanna see their face also? Lame.

Don't get me wrong, the G2 is an awesome device. I even held one in my hand and it felt awesome! Even if you don't use video chat, you can use the FFC for taking self-portrait photos or recording yourself.

I read about an FFC being installed on the Samsung Vibrant. If this could be done for the G2 then I'm buying one! Sure the plan is a tad more pricey than Sprint, but T-Mobile gets better coverage where I live. And I can always take it back after 30 days if things don't work out.

I just got my g2 today and I think I see a front facing camera on the phone. Its on th top left hand corner. Or it could be a light senor I'm not sure. Maybe if it is it will be in a update like when the g1 first came out it didn't record video and look it what it can do now

Clearly not a front facing camera. Things like this would be said already. T-Mobiles first phone with this feature will be the Mytouch aka Mytouch HD.

Personally I think they should of added that feature to the G2 as well. That would of been perfect. But no it does not have it.

i realize i am late to this party, but i just discovered this little speck of an eye on my G2 today while sitting in the sunlight on a break. whaaaa????!!! surprise surprise! so i was curious too. so it is absolutely determined this is a light sensor (perhaps for the "auto" brightness feature?) and NOT a camera?

Any insight into the actual use of this hardware? As I said, my best guess is to sense the auto-brightness feature (if enabled in display) to brighten or dim the screen in different light settings. Otherwise, how can I use or control this hardware?

Anyone know of any apps or ROMS that offer control over this hardware?

Thanks!

there is no camera there, the phone has been taken apart and looked at and there is no hardware to support a camera in the front.

Soooo, there's no software to support the hardware You have investigated the device and determined that it is really just a light sensor? So it's a little-known extra bit of hardware that is most likely used for...? My guess is the auto-display brigtness control. Am I on the right track? Do you know what that speck of an eye does?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)
