Forum Rules - being applied evenly?

So recently I have noticed ALOT more infractions being handed out, some for the silliest of silly. And if that's the way this forum is going to be run, so be it. So is it going to be this strict from now on?

My story ---> I laughed at someone's complete nonsense story, and got infracted for it. Seriously. Now if it's against the rules, fine I'll take my infraction and be done with it.

But if this is the case, then I see at least 50% of the most active members, including myself, that would have posts warranting more infractions, because in all realness, (yeah i think i made that word up ha!), I do believe in true equity and equality for all.

So, can someone from behind the scenes chime in on this? Or am I just going wack from lack of cigarettes? (quitting)

Maybe I am going whack after all. Sorry guys.

I'd still like some insight on how this place is going to be run from here on out, as it is definitely different than when I first joined up. It was more.. laid back.

I'd prefer not breaking the rules, so... yeah, whatsup guys?

Are they being applied evenly? Yes, as much as is physically possible.

Do we try to let things slide? Yes, but there are times when boundaries and common sense are crossed.

Think back to a few months ago when the Zero Tolerance Policy was introduced. Name calling and stuff was almost common place here just as it is/was on every forum. Enough got to be enough anda line was drawn. Similarly, this is what you are seeing now IMO.

With the recent addition of Mods and Guides, there are more eyes on everything and thus more being "caught and corrected."

I'd type more, but swype isn't THAT good. :p

Well ok, I can deal with that. The rules, are the rules. And since I broke the rules, I suppose that infraction was warranted after all.

Suppose I need to be more careful then with my posts.

I quit smoking like... six or seven years ago. How's it going for you?

I found the best way (and the only successful way for me) was to stay up for 48 hours straight, smoke my last cig, stay up as much longer as I could ( a few more hours ) then crash for.. heck I don't remember, 18 hours or something.

It was smooth sailing from there, after some distractions for the first day or so awake.

No smokes since.

Good luck to ya! It was definitely worth the effort.

Sadly all forums need to tighten up as they get bigger. A forum I mod at is rewriting the rules, and the masses arent happy and calling site staff nazi's spoiling their fun.

Sadly unless you're names above the door, or you're part of the staff, you must follow the rules of the site owner.

The addage "if you dont like it..." applies, just as it does in most places/situations in life as my boss likes to remind his workers.

Personally, I like the atmosphere here. The techie @ the VZW store said he preferred XDA to us because there was just too much fighting here. I told him to come back because it's much better now. He looked at me and shook his head. Oh well.

:eek: Somehow that doesn't even sound right!!
I get lost when I'm over @ XDA :( Two words: information overload. I don't like the fact that there are only 10 posts (there) vs 20 posts (here) to a page :/

Can't you just set that in your User CP options? I know you can here, I have mine on 40 posts.
^This
Got mine at 50
