Been into the two Orange shops in Colchester today, both confirm that they will NOT be stocking nor selling the Desire HD, they said that Orange direct may, but they think it will not be available via them either.

On a positive note CPW in Colchester have said they will have it in the warehouse from Monday next week (04/10/10) and it will be in the shops from Wednesday although no prices have been set yet.

So thats 02 and Orange who are supposedly only selling the DHD through CPW now.

I've only heard bad things about CPW. Does anyone know; if I get a contract through CPW can I deal with the carrier directly? Or am I forced to use CPW support and billing?

Don't really want to go with Vodafone either since they seem to make up their bills with a random number generator. They have also started branding their Android phones with their own non-removable advertising software. It was very frustrating having demos on a previous Vodafone handset that couldn't be removed.

I've never dealt with CPW personally. If your buying a phone through them, support for the phone if its not offered officially by the network would be through CPW, but billing would be through your network operator.

I believe Vodafone listened to consumer feedback on this one and they have now made it optional.

I've gone for the T-Mobile option as I know what my coverage is like and I tend not to have mass brawls with them.

You could always just buy the phone from them, if you can stump up the cash up front, or buy it from one of the other online retailers Handtec, Amazon Play etc, and then connect yourself via Orange direct, can then get a cracking deal on a 1 month sim only contract

I really do have to resort to this

I mean seriously, if you have ordered it, you will get it.

Also it would be wise For ANY Release Info to go into one nice thread. Ironically enough, there is already one http://androidforums.com/htc-desire-hd/177889-might-old-news-uk-release-date.html

I get my phone through work and we are just about to rollover into a new contract, orange consumer informed us late this afternoon that the desire hd is coming to them in about 2 weeks, no news of if/when coming to orange business yet, but you'd like to think so...

I am having big trouble deciding between the SGS and Desire HD... I'm tilting towards the HD but it is a good bit heavier, thinking cap on again...

I've decided to order the SGS (bit of bummer, since Orange have just said it's gone out of stock, but are expecting a new delivery tomorrow) and then once it arrives within the 7 days deciding period I will return it and request a DHD.

Surely, I can't lose :)

IMO...

SGS pros:
nice display, size, weight, battery life
SGS cons:
build quality, no camera flash, touch wiz (although, I would probably throw on another ROM), (maybe lag?, GPS?)

DHD pros:
camera flash, RAM, 3G speed, new sense
DHD cons:
weight, little big?, battery life?

Operating system - Android
Anticipated launch - week 43
Launch price - free from £40 on PAYM, great with Dolphin

taken from a friend that works for orange ;)

Will add this to the Official Release thread as rumour until confirmed.

That sounds like something from the Internal Matrix system..and I bet that is a 2 year contract too!.

What do you get with that deal, minutes, texts, data allowance?

Lets put it this way..Orange scrapped the "unlimited data" thing and put a FUP of 750mb on the iphone deals and all data offers i've seen with Orange is 500mb.

will be the normal standard deals just starts free from
