Hi all,

I am unsure how many Android fans would be interested in this, but I've built a blog dedicated to digital sales data, which includes info for Android titles.

I've published a bit of Android info so far, but I thought that some may be interested in this title, since 50,000 units downloaded is certainly a record for the platform.

www.digitalgameinsights.com

It links directly to the article. Enjoy!

Well that's what happens when someone makes a truly quality game and sells it at a reasonable price. I hope other developers have realized that low quality or overpriced iOS ports will not succeed on Android.

Certainly. That is why I'm trying to get word out on how well its sold. If more developers know that the Android ecosystem can support a title selling (potentially) 100,000 copies a month, they will develop more high-quality titles for the platform.

Argh. That is the same device I use. I wanted to buy it, but if its laggy...I'm not so sure :-\

Is there a lite version of the game?
The MyTouch is a SLOW phone (528 MHz, no dedicated GPU) compared to recent Android offerings. Game developers can't be expected to make their games work on old hardware. Just like iOS... the latest games made for the iPhone 4 will run like crap on the original iPhone :p

The thing that makes me upset is that there was very little upgrade between the G1 and MyTouch, despite there being about an 8 month time span between both phone launches. Comparatively, after the MyTouch had been out for 8 months, HTC had radically different phones available like the Nexus One, which had a ton of power behind them.

Its incredible that in one short year we've gone from the top-of-the-line Android phone being a MyTouch to a Galaxy-S or Evo.

It is a really good game and it should be getting more downloads if Google added PayPal or added a good currency conversion option to Google Checkout.

The currency conversion option is my biggest peeve with the market right now. Many developers price their products in native currencies (usually UKP or EUR). There is nothing wrong with that. However, it totally nullifies using carrier billing when they do that, which is a major option for many consumers.

Google is really hurting themselves with these problems.

Here is an article I wrote a week or two ago about how Google is getting trounced by Apple when it comes to game app sales:

Digital Game Insights Android Surging Past iOS? Not for Game Revenue..

If Google can fix the issues (handset fragmentation and payment UI), games would sell more. Until that happens, though, the market will still be underachieving...Which is very bad, given how many Android phones are out there in use.

I completely agree that angry birds will top Fruit Ninja. (Assuming it's the same $0.99 price tag on it)
This. I'm looking at, say, Doodle Jump, as an example of how NOT to do it.

Yup, it's sad that they have to shoot their self in the foot and then I don't know if they blame "android" for their poor sales. Also gameloft's games only being from their "market" is another fine example of developers shooting themselves in the foot.
