Help Can't connect laptop to internet using evo help!!!

NEED HELP CONNECTING MY DELL 1720 TO THE INTERNET. IVE TRIED PDANET AND EASY TETHER AND NO LUCK.IT SAYS IM CONNECTED BUT HAVE NO INTEENET,CONNECTION. I turned on debugging and still nothing I don't know what to do I've tried everything can anybody help. I just got the evo last week it is not a rooted evo though I don't want to have to root to go on the internet can anybody help me.

Doesn't PDAnet require a companion PC program?

Do you have that? Is it set up to enable USB?

Yea, as long as you have pdanet on your phone and pc, and you enabled usb debugging, it should work.

I'm trying to decide between PDAnet and EasyTether myself. From my searching, it looks like EasyTether gets better speed to the connected PC/laptop. But I'm also seeing some reports of EasyTether connections being slowed down as of late, and that Sprint could be getting wise to these alternative tethering programs. Can anyone confirm? Also does EasyTether require a companion PC program like PDAnet?

I do have the companion app foe the PC and run that wen I run it on my phone but is of true that it has to be selected for charging and not tether to work. I usually set it on the bottom selection which I think is tethering. Will it work if I choose charge. Thanks everyone.

Also make sure you are in charge mode.

Maybe that's y it isn't working that doesn't make sense tho shouldn't it only work if it is in tethering mode. So to be clear it only works in charge mode.

Update I tried it as just a charge and the samething happens. It says on my laptop that pdanet is connected and it finds my phone but it says NO INTERNET ACCESS. Can someone tell me step by step how to Set up settings on your phone and connect piece by piece. I'm new,to this and don't have anywhere else to go for help. THANK YOU
