Root Returning a previously rooted X

I previously rooted the X and for one reason or another I got stuck in the dreaded "M" loop. So i installed the 2.3.13 sbf file and I got my phone up and running again with it unrooted. While it was in the loop, I called Verizon and they agreed to send me a replacement. All is good on that front. But my question is, will I get into any trouble by sending them an X with 2.3.13 instead of the OTA 2.3.15?

i would just sbf it back to 2.1 then let the OTA come down and install before you send it in. or leave it at the 2.1

I thought using the 2.1 sbf would brick the phone?

seriously, every Android phone I have "exchanged" for "defect" has been a root disaster. VZW gets these things in by the thousands and dont have time to check if it was rooted, and then follow up to charge the customer. How do you think that they sell "previously owned phones"....reflash, refurbish, resell. Just dont take it to a store where someone that is in front of you who might be well versed (not likely with VZW retail reps) on these things and can screw you on the spot because they are having a bad day.

I work at a call center for VZW here in Lincoln and honestly I doubt the warehouse checks the phones.. They basically check for physical or water damage cuz that is alot easier to check for.

The 2.1 SBF will only brick the phone if you had the 2.3.15 OTA installed from verizon. IE you when from a normal 2.1.604 and took the update from verizon to get you to 2.3.15. When you do that the bootloader gets updated and the SBF will brick you.

If you went from the 2.1.604 to the leaked version of 2.3.9 or 2.3.13 or 2.3.15 then your bootloader was not updated so you can SBF back to 2.1

So if you are at a leaked 2.3.13 and have never installed the update from verizon I would SBF back to 2.1.604 because then they won't ever be able to tell that you did anything.

Sitting at 2.3.13 is an unofficial version that was never released...

Yeah that's my problem. I rooted with the Droid 2 method from the 2.2 OTA. Oh well, i guess i will have to try my chances in hoping they don't spot anything. Thanks.
