On the other hand, I'm deciding weather to get this or iPhone 4 (battery life being one of the only reasons I'm leaning toward Apple). I had to grab yalls attention right? XD

Seriously though, is the battery as bad as everyone says? I don't have a problem with forcefully messing with a few things to get what I want, in this case, battery life. I don't plan on using the 4G or rather the 3G that much. I currently own a 3GS Jailbroken (ios 4.0.1) and keep it on edge, bluetooth off. With these kinds of conservative settings, how long would you guys say it would last? Right now I'm going from about 9AM to 7PM. Yeah that sucks, probably because I'm currently in India where the temp is always like 114F and destroys battery.

Get a blackberry torch. Bberry's battery lasts for days. I'm currently contemplating the switch. I've owned an iPhone, Bberry and Droid. Bberry kills them with battery but has crappy apps.

Are you sure you'll even have service in India? The EVO requires cdma, most countries don't have that.

Is it SIM CDMA or just built into the phone type CDMA? They have reliance CDMA service here so that shouldn't be a problem. As for data plan, I'll have to stick to edge But I'm here studying Medicine; this is just my "get spoiled" toy.

Also I liked the Bold 9000, but the torch design isn't something I think I'd like; they changed it up too much and it doesn't look like an executive phone to me anymore. Plus it would be hard to switch from iphone/android to bb

I don't think there is such a thing as "SIM CDMA". CDMA pretty much is the opposite of GSM and SIM in general.

I'd call up that Reliance place and make sure they support the EVO first. Also, keep in mind that CDMA does not have "edge", Edge is a GSM technology. The EVO is not a world phone, and they may not even allow it on their network.

I too had bad battery life. but after I followed a few tips and tricks from this forum it helped with the battery life a full day while using the phone stock battery. Now I have an extended battery a 3000 mah from ebay, experimented with it, not used the phone, yes it was hard, maybe a few phone calls but not to the extent of sms or other things, anyway so far its going on 2 1/2 days. As of right now its at 71% probably could go on another day and half but I'm going to start playing with it again.

In reality I don't believe you know as much as you say you do about "networks". Tell me, Einstein, which providers use SS7 as their signaling method and which use SIP and tell me the differences between them and how they are implemented in Wireless networks. Does one carrier use an SBC to manage call traffic on a IP based voice network or do they prefer a Plexus MGWC?

I've been all over the world too and just because there is CDMA coverage in a particular locality does not automatically mean you CAN use their services without plunking down a CC # but you already knew that right?

Unless the phone is out in the sun all day temps of 114F aren't going to be a huge problem. I live in Arizona and the summer just now ending has had well over 100 days of 100F temps... mostly over 110F. My Droid X's battery is doing just fine!

The sim card is not for cdma it for gsm. The phones that have them sim cards from cdma providers like verizon are actually dual gsm/cdma, they can do both. That is very typical on phones used overseas that come from cdma providers.
