Help Will the 2.1 update bring Flash support?

Assuming you mean the full Flash 10 from Adobe, then nope, it won't include flash, for two reasons. First, Flash 10 requires Android 2.2, not 2.1, which quite likely will never come (officially) to our phones. Also, Flash 10 requires an ARM Cortex v7 processor, where our phone as a Cortex v6. So, put simply, our processor isn't advanced enough to handle flash.

Now, if you mean the Flash Lite version of Flash that several phones have had for a while now, I'd guess that is entirely up to Motorola, since our phone should be plenty capable of handling it. Not that the Lite version of flash is good for a ton of stuff anyway.

I read that Flash 10.1 can work on 2.1

Yes it can work on 2.1, I have it on my Captivate that runs 2.1, but the bigger issue is the processor. The backflip just does not have enough power to handle Flash, same like the live wallpapers, I doubt we will see those either.

I have a few other questions.

Would the 2.1 update bring pinch-to-zoom?
And what would happen if I attempted to install Flash on a 2.1 Backflip?

1. no, because our hardware doesn't support multi-touch.
2. are you running jr0dds preclair rom? i am, i'll go test it in a minute or two and i'll let you know. :)

EDIT: just tested it. tried 3 different flash sites and none of them work.

@Winters37 Where have you seen that the backflip's hardware doesn't support multitouch? I would extremely doubt that is the case (no technical reason why it wouldn't, since it is capacitive, only reason why is if Moto used a non multitouch controller, which would just be stupid and pointless on their part). If you are just going off the fact that j_r0dd's preclair rom doesn't support it, that is almost certainly just a driver issue (since the original drivers for 1.5 obviously don't support multitouch).

I can confirm the fact that flash doesn't work even if installed (I stand corrected on the 2.2 requirement, bad info I guess).
