HELP!!! I have just purchased a HTC EVO phone. My question is...how can I 1) upload pics from my pc to my phone or 2) can I even upload? I have an account with Sprint PictureMail from my previous phone but I don't know how to view them with this new phone. I tried creating a new account with Flickr and uploaded some pics and I still can't view them. I guess what I am asking is.... Can I only view pics on my phone which have been taken with my phone?? Do I have to log on to a site, search pictures and then look at them?? Am I missing something!!! Can anyone help???? Thanks, Ann

There are several ways you can do this.

You can plug your phone into your PC via USB and select "Disk Drive". To select Disk Drive, drag down your notification bar and tap "Charge Only". This will take you to the connection type settings. Tap "Disk Drive" and then tap "Done". Wait a few seconds for your PC to recognize your phone's SD card as a removable drive. On your PC navigate to your phone's SD card. It will usually be called "Removable Drive: and have a drive letter. On mine it is the E: drive. Your photos from the camera are usually stored in "DCIM > 100Media". You can just download your Flickr photos into that folder and they will show up in the gallery on your phone. Remember to set your phone back to "Charge Only" or you won't be able to see your SD card. When your card is mounted as a disk drive the phone doesn't see the card like normal.

Another way you can do it is to email the photos to yourself and then access your email through your phone and download the photos.

Another option is to use a gallery app that will automatically synchronize with your picasa account. That way, you can browse and open/view your picasa photos and videos just as though they were already on the phone. You can put your photos on picasa anyway you want, via computer or phone.

The gallery app is a 3D gallery that comes standard with Android. It is disabled on the Evo so that HTC can replace it with their own 2D version, so you'll have to install google's 3D version yourself. But it's very handy because now all my picasa stuff is right on my phone, even though I made my picasa photos long ago using my PC. Now they are completely accessible on my phone without me having to do anything.

I think you mentioned Flickr - there may be an app for flickr that lets you do the same thing. But I like that the android gallery program is automatically integrated into the phone and I don't have to do anything for it to synchronize all my pics/vids.

I completely understand what you are telling me...and thank you!! But for some reason my pc is not recognizing my phone when it is plugged in the USB port. I think that is where my problem is...there is no communication between the two....maybe???

I had a similar problem where my computer would not recognize my phone even after following the steps to select disk drive after plugging it in.

The solution was to pre-configure the phone to default to disk drive before plugging it into the computer. You have to go into the settings (settings, connect to pc, default connection type) and set it as disk drive. Then, after setting the default connection type, you can connect the phone and it should work.

After your computer recognizes the phone as a disk drive, you can re-configure the default behavior however you like. I set mine to default to charge only, and when I temporarily select disk drive after plugging in my phone, the computer recognizes it.

So it's just a matter of doing the default change that first time, you don't have to keep the phone's default after you get your computer to recognize the phone.

it recognizes the removable disc but when I click on it it says "this file does not have a progam associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Association control panel" What????? I want my old phone back!!!!!

You're clicking on your Removable Disk (E:) and getting a "file association" error? That's strange. A disk is not a file so why would there be an association issue?
