so how often do you guys usually

My shifts sometimes involve being up at 0500 for which I go to bed at midnight for if I have managed to grab a couple of hours kip in the afternoon. Or go to bed around 2130 if I haven't. Othertimes when I'm only in at 1400 I'd go to bed around 0100 and get up around 1000.

When I'm off it can be anything like tonight for instance I'm still up at 0050 having done an early shift being up at 0500 but I'll be sleeping in until 1100-1130 as I haven't slept in the afternoon.

Bed time between 8:30 and 10pm. Up between 3:30 and 5am.

As we all know, "early to bed and early to rise makes a person sick, poor and naive."

..no, wait.. it's.. oh never mind.

:D

Good one Frisco. :D

I'm a student, and I get 6-7 hours of sleep a day. Not enough, but better than many others. During the summer I have to get up earlier (5h30 instead of 6h30) but I go to bed way earlier, so I sleep more (usually between 7 and 9 hours).

Except on Thursday, I go out and get to bed between 2 and 3 AM. I get up at 5h30 so I barely sleep, but I only work for the first half of the day so it's not so bad. I'm not really a "clubbing" kind of guy, but my friends enjoy it and I enjoy having fun with my friends, so that's a good way. Also some of them work with me, so it's funny when we're all tired the next day on the job.

I don't do that when I have school though, it's a summer-only thing. Not that anyone cares. ;)

Sometime i dont sleep until 4am and still up at 6-630 maybe 7 if im beat. Once awhile i will sleep at midnight. Sometime i get to sleep in on sunday (8am) because my wife is nice enough to feed the kids breakfast (they are 3 yrs).

I sleep 6 hours on average, more or less. I work the graveyard shift at a resort hotel front desk so I don't get to sleep until about 8 am. On my days off I usually take advantage of the novelty of sleeping at night. I'll sleep 8 hours straight through. It's SOOOO nice.

You really can't appreciate the sleepy dreamy ZZZ-filled heaven that is darkness until you've had to work through it and sleep through the day. I've been doing this for seven years and it might kill me yet.

Bed time is whenever the sun rises. I don't sleep for too long though, few hours at a time broken up through the day.

LOL!

It's like clockwork. My alarm goes off at 6:05 AM every morning and I'm up by 6:15 AM the latest. I'm ready and out the door heading to work by 7:00 AM. At night time though, I'm ALWAYS asleep before midnight. I'm an early bird :)

Thankfully I sleep like a brick.

Same here

I also sleep like a brick, and i get between 6-8 hours sleep generally. Bed between 10-11:30 up at 6 to get ready to go to work.

Also your body can adjust itself to need less sleep, it can shorten the cycles of sleep down (usually 1hour and 30mins per cycle and you need around 5 cycles per night) , once shortened you can train yourself to only need 4 hours sleep and still get the same quality of sleep of someone who sleep 7 and a half to 8 hours.

if anyones interested in trying that out, i believe all you do is one night go to bed 5 minutes later and wake up 5 minutes earlier. stick with it for 2-3 days then again go to bed 5 mins later and wake up 5 mins earlier again. you have to keep a strict schedule and it will take time but eventually, apparantly you can train you body to only need 4 hours.

I sleep like a baby (by that I mean I wake up every few hours crying my eyes out, kidding but only about the crying part). I sleep like crap pretty much every single night and on particularly bad mornings I'll wake up half a dozen times in the last hour before I wake up.

I'm in bed around 10:30/11 PM and up at 6 AM M-F. Up at 6:30 on Saturday to teach class and I sleep in on Sundays if I'm lucky until 8 AM or so.

This morning I was woken up at 3:30 AM by my cat. He was hiding all day and night from the rain and thunder and once it passed he was a terror.

There's a thing often called polyphasic sleep, where you condition your brain to enter deep sleep as soon as you fall asleep. To do this, you get to sleep 20 minutes every 3 hours (there are different techniques). That means less than 3 hours of sleep per day. Image what you could do with 4 or 5 more productive hours in your days (for years!). Of course if you have a regular job or are a student, you probably can't do it. Also it's supposed to be very hard at first because you are not conditioned to have good sleep as soon as you hit the pillow. Animals do that all the time.

HOWEVER, there might be drawbacks. I'm no expert on sleep and it's possible that it is not so good for your health. If you really want to try that (I haven't), search on the internet beforehand.

I once read a blog about a a guy who was doing this, and he said that his dreams were just like reality, much more vivid than normal dreams. Lucid dreaming is another interesting subject. When dreaming, you have to realize that you are dreaming (without waking up!), and then there are tips and tricks to modify the dream to whatever you want. Yes, anything.

I remember reading that you should get the habit of checking your watch twice. That way, you get this habit in your dreams too and if the watch doesn't display the same time twice, it means that you are dreaming. Also, when you realize that you are dreaming and want to be someplace else, all you got to do is a complete spin and the scenery will be totally different.

I guess that'd be fun, but I don't even remember most of my dreams.

That sounds interesting. Bus loads of people coming in at the wee hours for their rooms, eh?

Sounds like a great job, if you don't have to put up with too much.

That's the idea. But normally there's one or two people who are drunk and stupid enough to make my night more of a hassle than it needs to be.
