Ok so i just recently ditched my droid x for a droid incredible and like it a good bit. The only problem im having is that my inc has been off the charger for 4.5hrs and has 53% battery life. Why is my battery life so bad? I'm rooted running redemption rom, stock kernel, and the 2.15 radio update. Is it my setup or should i get a new battery?

really need help with this. just took it off the charger now and after it immediately dropped to 96%

Here are some of the things I have done to improve my battery life.

I purchased the Seidio 1750 battery which will instantly help battery life as it is a larger capacity battery than the stock OEM 1300.

I set my screen timeout to 30 seconds.

I manually set the screen brightness to about 15% or something. In doors it's perfect for viewing anything but outdoors its a little unworkable. When i need to view something outdoors I just use the PowerControl widget with the screen brightness toggle and click it twice to get full screen brightness.

I downloaded the SetCPU and set a screen off profile to 245 max and min. I haven't noticed ANY lag or slowness in the phones performance when unlocking it and once its awake the CPU throttles back to 1Ghz. HUGE Battery savings there.

I also downloaded Y5 and any wifi network that I have ever logged on to it will immediately log on when you are in range thus saving your battery life from roaming or connecting to 3G. It also turns it off when you are out of range.

I also stopped using animated wallpapers because although they may look cool they just drain the battery with little to no benefit.

Also hit menu, settings, wireless & networks, Mobile networks, and uncheck "enable always -on mobile device". This will save you TONS of battery life. Basically when you lock your screen or it locks itself with this box checked or enabled your phone is constantly connecting to the 3G network even when your not using your phone or its in your pocket or something. If you uncheck it or unenable it, when your phone's screen is dimmed off or the phone is locked you will no longer be connected to the 3G mobile network. You will still receive sms, mms, emails, phone calls, etc. I also still receive notifications from some apps but for the most part you will not always be draining your battery when your not using your phone. I also set my wifi networks to stay on always so even if the screen is locked you still remain connected to the wifi which doesn't use nearly as much battery as the 3G network does.

Those are most of the things I did to get maximum battery life out of my phone. You can also research bump charging to get some more information about that which when done regularly will get you extra battery life as soon as the phone is unplugged from the wall.

My battery life now is Incredible, no pun intended. I can get a full day of use out of it and my day normally starts at like 7am and ends about midnight... Good luck...PM me if you have any questions.

Man that seems like alot to make your battery life better. Because on my droid x i didnt have to do that much. I just replaced the battery and it was fine. But i will try a few of those things. I did go back to the stock radio which helped a little but not much. Its been off charge for two hours now and its 79%

Another tip, if it fits. I use mine a lot for reading ebooks which leaves the screen on for an hour or longer at a time. Besides dimming the screen, I changed the screen within the ebook app to night mode (dark background and light fonts), and noticed a major improvement in battery drain. I wish the news apps allowed for dark backgrounds.

You might also search out discussions on "bump charging" . It is normal (without the bump charge) that the battery quickly drops about 8% in the first minutes off the charger. Although you have a green light, the battery is not fully charged.

yea i used to notice that with my x. like the minute it would say its fully charged i would take it off and it would drop quick. but if i left it on longer it wouldnt drop as fast. but when i first got it it actually had a bad battery. so i replaced the battery and the life was great. but ill look into bump charging. im gonna see about gettin a new battery soon.
