4G Service in Cleveland, Ohio?

According to Sprint, the $10/m fee is not for 4G, but for expected increased use of data overall. Just an FYI.

Anyway, I was told Cincinnati was getting 4G in September by a Sprint rep. I would imagine they would bring Cleveland online around the same time? You could always go to the Sprint store locally and ask. If they know anything they'll tell you.

I was in North Olmsted, Ohio, a suburb 20 miles out of downtown Cleveland, Ohio and went 4G with "good" reception on an Evo 4G. I got a solid 8 Mb/s download and variable upload speed but around .3 Mb/s. I get 1 Mb/s download with wifi and cable modem at home. It was great. Web surfing was very fast.

You only get 1Mb/s download speed over wifi? Damn... I get about 20Mb/s over FiOs but I can't believe it is so much slower using cable.

I have been running the Android Application "4G,CDMA,GSM & WiFi Map Viewer" by Sensorly. You turn on 4G and this application, drive the area and it will create a map of what is 4G and what is not. It shows a google map with a light blue overlay if it has been scanned with no results and a green overlay with 4G active. The scanned mapping is uploaded to their server and then to everyone else. I drove around the edge of the 4G area mapping the outer edge of North Olmsted. You can zoom out to the whole USA and see all the 4G hot spots. I real nice application.

Best Buy in the middle did not know 4G was on.

So does anyone know if this it for 4g service in cleveland or are they going to expand it to some suburbs besides north olmsted? Why wouldn't they put some towers in the bigger suburbs? How is is the signal is only good on 480 and 77 and then dies right when you get off the freeway? Do they just not have the power up all the way:thinking:

Don't know where you live, but I know for a fact that they are planning to put 4G in Lorain County, at least the northern part.
