Root At my wits end....someone please help me!!

Hi everyone. This is my first post on here.
My desire is making me very sad. I am missing calls left right and centre. why? coz the volume of the ringtone is really low, even at full volume. I was told if i root the phone i can change the volume to be higher. I have done this using the method shown here
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...oot-guide-updated-20-00-est-oct-5-2010-a.html.

Thing is, i am lost for where i make the change for the volume, if there is such a change possible.
If anyone is able to help i would be very greatful

Rooting is great. But i dont see how it could help make your speaker louder.
Is the low volume a known issue with this type of phone?
Maybe this is a dumb question, but did you try different ringtones?

hi all and thanks forthe replies so far.
cableguynoe:- the volume issue is being had by quite a few users. i have tried everthing that i have found on the net so far and i have tried different ringtones, some i have made myself and from sites like zedge.
danfrance:- I have had it in my pocket and on a counter top. I am a PC enigineer and many times I am in a noisy office enviroment. I have taken to wearing a bluetooth headset all the time but given the shape of my lug holes i have experienced the headset falling out and into a pc I am working on. Tried superglue to keep headset in but defeats the object when I am in the shower :):):):):)
Vidrio:- I have tried altering the properties the the sound file. Sounding bad is not really an issue, just as long as I can hear the phone.

Been in touch with HTC and they are no help at all. My wife has got the desire as do a few of my associates. The phone is that good (IMHO) that I bought an epad on the strength of it. And all the ringers seem very low. As a side thought when the alarm is used it is approx 5x louder so I know the volume is there. It was just a suggestion that rooting my save the phone an early demise.

my standard ring for me is easily loud enough, maybe your ears dont like the way the desire deals with the frequency on its external speaker.

my office tends to stare at me when my phone goes off

Could be my old age:):):):)
Problem is my wife htc is the same, she says it is quiet. I am sure there must be a fix. It is a shame as the phone is a fantastic phone.

you may have tried this but if you go to settings>sound make sure you have unticked the quiet ringtone when phone is moved

Thanks, it was one of the first things is did do. i realised that when on a worktop and the virate goes off it detects the phone has moved.

short of fitting it with an amplified external speaker it looks like the fone is doomed :(

Hi all, I think i might have cracked the low volume on the desire ringtone. Believe me when i say i have tried nearly everthing that this has made my millenium. ( I am easily pleased :p)
Here is what i did:-
1:- got a mp3 that i wanted as a ringtone.
2:- downloaded a programe that i found after some googleing from here Download MP3Gain from SourceForge.net
3:- set the volume to max ( which was 105 dB)
4:- copied to phone and set as ringtone.
Wallop, nice loud ringtone that i can now hear.

All i need to do now is pasify those that get annoyed at the volume....lol
Thanks to everyone who has given me input and advice on here.
