I have had my phone since launch and have none of these problems.

I tend to change my layout around a lot though and I never keep my screen above the medium brighness, sometimes even on low.

I dont see what you can be doing on your main screen to let the am/pm or any other icons on your main screen stay lit on the screen for so long. The internet hides the bar and so do most other apps.

I've had my Incredible since launch; today I noticed that the notification bar has been burned into my screen. It isn't super noticeable but you can read the time, see an alarm, and other things. AMOLEDs and plasma screens are more prone to burn in when compared to LCD, so I doubt any of the S-LCD users have experienced this yet. I was just wondering if anyone else is noticing this?

I apologize for bumping this ancient thread, but I figured this was a pretty good time to do so. Many of us Incredible owners are probably getting close to or have passed 1 year of ownership. There are also many of us who probably have another year with our Incredibles and the information in this thread is very helpful. Also, the other thread started by drdoom got me looking into this issue, only to discover that my phone also suffers from it. With that being said, how is everybody's screens holding up after a year?

I am about a month and a half away from 1 year of ownership and I am having the typical burn out at the top of the screen around the notification bar. Using the screen test app suggested earlier in this thread, I can see it on every color except black. There is a faint line running almost all the way across the screen and almost the entire clock is burned in. My Incredible is an AMOLED phone.

So now I guess I start researching ways to hide the notification bar, and start praying my phone has another year left in it.

I knew about burn in with AMOLED when I got my phone and I have tried everything to prevent it from starting to burn in. Despite my best efforts, I started noticing burn in about a month ago and it has progressed significantly since then. I wonder if this would be counted under warranty for an insurance claim.

Thanks for digging this up, I never saw it.
Since we are all on the internet it's helpful to actually provide the link, since I was looking for blue underlined text.

I've had mine since the release date, no burn in images or dead pixels.

I find that hard to believe if you have the AMOLED screen. Check it at an angle on a light gray screen.

I gots nada.
I tried it on the gray screen at full brightness.

My display timeout is 1 minute. Although the home screens are the most frequently displayed screen, I'm only there for a few moments before I find an app to go to. As far as time duration, I do a lot of e-reading so I would have suspected that if anything would give me a burn in, it would be from the text. But I use night modes with black background and white text. Even then I use 4 different e-reading apps so the placement and size of the text should all be slightly different from each other.

First gen blue oleds have drastically shorter lifetime than red and green (maybe close to half?). Lifetime is measured in hours and relates to how long it takes the peak intensity to drop by 50%. What you're seeing is that the peak brightness has dropped on the blues where they've seen many hours versus the surrounding ones. The clock is always on and being white numbers, it's running all three colors at peak intensity. There's an app out there that'll let you cycle all blue, all red, and all green on your screen. I can faintly see my clock on my Incredible when I'm on the all blue screen. As oleds are improved, and lifetimes are drastically increased, this will become a non-issue. Blues have already seen improvements from AMOLED to Super AMOLED and now Super AMOLED Plus.
