Im thinking about making a app for velocity that would automate the scripts included then in the future i would extend the app to be a emulator with the ability to have users add their own scripts and execute then by a button.

like i would have a button for sys script would be
To use sys -ro you would just click the button
++++++++
+Sys: RO+
++++++++

To use sys -rw you would just click the button
++++++++
+Sys: RW+
++++++++

Please tell me would you use this and if so how useful would it be to you?

Virtuous v3 for the dinc has a tool like this called virtuous buddy.
It also has scripts for removing and backing up apk files, and some other nice little goodies.

Its nice since it saves on having to type everything out, and you can just uninstall the app after your done. I would recommend rather than calling the scripts just execute the full command like
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
This would make it a little safer in case there where to be a missing script, and even make it work for general functions on any ROM. Shoot me an email if you need help scripting with sh/busybox I have a few nice little scripts on the way for the ally and allot more in mind. Im always glad to see people picking up the tools and building android to be bigger and better

is it possible to include a script that fetches which applications have updates available and puts them in a check list? that way you can mass update your applications without having to sit there and click away to avoid the ones you don't want

You mean to update apps found in the market? The new market has this included. In the market-->Menu-->Downloads. Click on the apps you want to be auto updated (installed apps) and check the box for auto update.
