I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome Froyo 2.2.1 Based ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here: http://androidforums.com/droid-roms/180419-rom-charity-smoked-glass-themed-rom-frg22d-v8-0-built-source-hot.html

I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.

Please Donate, read below...

ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

Instructions...

Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".

File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.

Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG9-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.

SPRecovery
Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.

If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.

Just downloaded, and set my phone up with this new ROM. Good work as usual Dan!! Just curious as to why the build number still says FRG22D when it should be FRG83??

I wrote frg22 in the build.prop file to ensure that the market would not restrict downloads. Basically, I make google think the ROM is a Motorola Droid running Froyo 2.2 stock. I can ensure you it is indeed the latest source - I downloaded yesterday morning!

Just putting the final tweeks on it. I like the new min battery setting! Any chance you might do something with the battery percentage? I know this was discussed with the other rom but I don't remember if you ever decided you were going to add it or if you chose not to. We'll let you know how it goes after it is up and running.

Once you have the back up you can always go back to that. You cannot change a saved rom so it is safe. It is like a written book. You can add to it or change it but you have to save it as something else. If you do not wipe data and cache you will be porting over settings and scrips from your old rom which might be a different build and hence a whole differnt language, which will not work. (hence the boot loop) You must wipe when installing a new rom. (with a few exceptions that don't apply here)

Got it.

One more thing, Is it normal for my phone to be running reaaaally hot under this rom??

No, mine runs really cool but it will heat up when you are installing, backing up and setting up. It sounds like you have been running in panic mode :) (I have been there a lot also) After you get it all up and running see how it goes. If you move to launcher pro from the stock launcher remove all your icons from the stock launcher.

I'm loving the ROM, as I loved v8.0, but for both roms Chrome to Phone has been force closing every time I try to send a link from my computer. I tried clearing data, uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still FCs. Any suggestions?

What version or Chrome2phone do you have? Make sure you have the newest version from the market and newest plugin for your browser. I have not experienced this issue - has anyone else?

I have both newest versions. It's the weirdest thing. If I choose launch manually, the website comes through as a notification but Chrome to Phone still FCs, and if I choose launch automatically it doesn't go through at all. Kind of annoying. Especially since no one else has experienced this problem.

Battery life seems fine for me. Are you running your youtube in HQ? This will cause choppy as you are depended on your 3g coverage. It should work fine when running through wifi in HQ though. I find some videos will run fine on 3g and HQ but others can be choppy. This is pretty much the same for me with any rom.
