Okay. So me and associate got bored at work. We decided to start a project.

We are taking an old (like super old) Motorola MicroTac 650 and wiring a bluetooth speaker kit into it. Im gonna keep this updated. Here's a few pics. Let me know what you guys think

Oh, the whole idea behind this: So im walking around. Phone rings. I take out a 15 year old phone and answer it. Too fun

I'll update more pics once we begin the cross-wiring.

Reminds me of one time when I worked for the Department on Aging. We started a Cell Phones for Seniors drive where people could donate their old cell phones for the elderly to use for 9-1-1 capabilities since that doesn't require a data plan. This was in 2005. We got lots of HUGE phones like that Motorola that had to have been at least 7-10 years old @ that time. My boss & I were cracking up at the notion of taking those bricks out in public & pretending to talk on it. It's hard to believe that was 5 years ago.

OP, the best part about your idea is that you'd be talking to someone on the other end! I think you & your buddy should make a video of the reactions you get while out in public w/ that .

I have an old Motorola StarTAC, now I want to do this! That phone is still almost cool, though, don't know if I can bring myself to cannibalize it. It's the old gray analog one, has 12 hr standby and 15 minutes talk time, LOL! And we complain if we can't make it through a day with only a little internet surfing, texting gaming and phone calls!

I know a cell phone retailer that has one. I think he has a collection of all the old brick phones. I'll hit him up and see if he can let me get one from his museum. These should still work, right? They were cdma also if i recall correctly.

OH...didn't see that. It says 'I'm done'. I remember reading some posts where he was complaining about his phone and it seems he got the iPhone4...so I guess he's gone, lol.
