Tough to give up the Moment

Even though I now use the Evo and Epic, it's been tough to give up the Moment. I still use it in wifi mode and it's been very useful.

Now people are offering me trades for a Palm Pre, or buying it for cash.

I'm sentimental or something, because I find it hard to let the phone go. I just feel comfort having it as a back up to both of my 4G phones... and I don't need the cash that bad.

Should I stop being sentimental and sell the Moment to eager buyers??

lol. i can't wait to dump my moment when i get either a transform or evo/epic. i found out i get a 10% discount on my bill if im a credit union member, so i may just give in and get a evo/epic even though 4g isn't in my area. the moment will live as the worst phone i ever owned.

As my first Android phone, I have sentimental attachment to Moment. I've had it since the day it was released. I still think it is a good device and Samsung did disservice to it from the beginning with half-hearted support.

In your case, I would hold on to it and continue to enjoy using it. What are your thoughts on Evo, Epic?

Nah, you'd be surprised if you have WiFi at home how useful the Moment could actually be. I can't believe it took AndroidSPCS to remind me that it's a viable handset on WiFi (hell, it even downloaded the latest update a couple of weeks back), and I pulled it out of the drawer it was relegated in an early grave to since I got my EVO from the Google I/O conference, and I've been using it ever since at home.

I like a physical keyboard, and although I have an EVO for "on my person" use, when I'm at home I use the Moment (despite the laaaaaag it's sometimes subject to) for a few tasks where a keyboard is useful (replying to work E-mail, f'rinstance). Hell, I even took it to Europe where it worked just fine with the WiFi in my hotel.

The Evo and Epic are amazing devices, everything that the Moment could have been and more. I really am uber happy, and don't have that burning desire to get something better any more.

I remember since June / July how anxious I was to move on from the Moment. But as others have stated it is a great device to learn Android on, and the hardware is super solid. I enjoyed doing my first root on my Moment, and it started me on the road to rooting my Evo / Epic. It's a great device, hugely uner-rated as a wifi only device.

You need a third backup phone? Think of it this way, the Moment is a comodity that's loosing value by the minute. It's value continues to drop and will never hit a point where it becomes collectible, at least not in our lifetime. When my "new" Evo arrives Friday, I'll test it out for a weekend. If it passes muster, the Moment goes up on ebay Monday. It's not like the Moment offers anything special over the Evo or Epic, they're essentially all Android phones. I've had fun with the Moment, but I'll always look back on it as just an OK phone. Too many nagging bugs and relatively poor (but improving) mfg support eliminate it from greatness. A better experience than the WinMo stuff it replaced, but not in the class of the phones like the Startac for being clearly ahead of their time.

BTW, my wife dumped her Pre to get an Epic. I would not recommend it in trade for the Moment. Great OS tied to crappy hardware. It's not if it will break, it's when and how bad. She hated her Pre more than any phone she's ever had, and she's not picky.

Good to know about the pre, pastafarian. Yea I agree the Moment is seemingly losing value, but honestly it's still one of the best non-4g Sprint Android phones, which is pretty sad LOL. Android is gaining so much popularity that people are dying to get something like the Moment to get in on the bandwagon.

I can only say I agree. My moment will stick around as a toy on wifi and also learning more about theming and possibly kernel building when i get time to try to learn.
