Since I got my Desire on release day I have recommended it to 5 other people and have even managed to convert some Apple fan boys.

I love the fact that upgrades are all done for free. Then there is the Google apps such as the excellent Navigation software.

BUT.....Since my phone corrupted my SD card yesterday I am close to ditching it. I don't care about apps etc... but photos and videos are irreplaceable.

Thanks to some advice on here I used an undeleter that managed to recover SOME of them.

That's one thing Apple has over Android. Everything is synced with itunes and one click replaces everything.

I need to send mine off for repair. (Dust under the screen)

Once done I am considering selling and changing. If the openness of android means apps etc. can kill SD cards. I am not sure I want to keep it.

HTC/Android REALLY need to make a decent syncing software that works as well as iTunes for the above reasons.

If not I might sell it and upgrade to something like the Desire HD (Something with bigger internal storage so you don't have to rely on SD cards)

RANT OVER! :)

your phone didnt corrupt your SDCard, your SDCard got corrupted through use, it happens with all storage media including iphone.

you think itunes fixes this? think again, if there is corruption in the filesystem at the time of synch it will wipe the library from the device completely and not let you resynch back from your computer.

how old was your SDCARD?
Im pretty certain there are no apps that can kill an sdcard unless they are specific for formating/wiping

I'd say that's more a negative...than a positive. With Apple products you are tied to using iTunes...

I prefer to have the choice of of syncing however i choose..

Pleased you managed to recover (most) of your data but you only have yourself to blame for not keeping backup copies of your media.

Now your sorted again get yourself a Flickr/Picasa/Photobucket or similar account setup ;-)
