Droid win over IPhone

So I'm in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay standing in line for Metallica. I'm posting on Facebook and Twitter with full bars and 3G coverage. Then I notice a guy a few feet in front of me holding up his IPhone trying over and over to get a signal to make a phone call, he never did.

Droid Win :D

Yes, there's a thing....

Got nothing against the IPhone, if it was on Verizon, I'd have one.

But, remember this. The IPhone being out there is what made Motorola/Verizon try to top it with the Droid.

Now, the IPhone is going to want to top the Droid, forcing them to make a yet better product.

Then, guess what, Motorola and the other Advance Device makers will somehow top the new-improved Droid....

and so on, and so on, and so on.....

We, the consumer, benefit by these guys continuing to one-up the other one... It should be encouraged!!!

I don't know if iPhone made the DROID better. Technology made the DROID better. iPhone stuck to some stringent design principles, e.g. specific screen size and resolution, carried over from the 2G. But since the 2G, technology has grown leaps and bounds, allowing for smaller, more resolute screens and cheaper... among other things!

That being said, Android OS was developed before iPhone OS. What iPhone did really well didn't really have anything to do with the iPhone as it had to do with the iTunes environment. Even though 90%+ of apps are downloaded by the device, you cannot discount the value of the iTunes environment to iPhone owners.

That being said, iPhone still has other advantages that Android will not experience for a while: 3rd party accessory support. I guess it's a one-up type of thing, but it's also keeping up with the technology "Jones'". As technology improves, device makers seek to include them into their product.

The iPhone has several advantages: design, no keyboard, apps, accesories

The DROID has 1 HUGE advantage: Verizon

I had the iPhone 3GS a month ago, since then I have tried the Eris, Omnia II, and just got the DROID yesterday. I love it. I almost gave up on Android after getting the Eris and really didn't want the DROID because of the design and the keyboard, but I gave it a shot and love it.

Eventually the apps will catch up and surpass Apple and if the next DROID has no keyboard I may give up wanting a verizon iPhone.

imo, the physical keyboard and design are both droid advantages. and like you said, apps will catch up.

some droid advantages off the top of my head:

1.) android 2.0 - open platform, customizable
2.) VERIZON
3.) hardware keyboard
4.) amazing screen
5.) easily replaceable battery
6.) looks badass - not all curvy and girly

i personally prefer the droid over the iphone (this seems like a repeat forum), but that is what is good about competition. It provides users with options. The iphone a couple of years ago was the stand alone smart phone and now their are phones out there matching the iphone's ability so it allows consumers the option to choose what they truly want. The iphone 3gs is a good phone, it is the best selling phone for a reason, but I personally did not like dealing with apple support or the poor att signal in may area. I switched to the droid expecting just to have a few features and I would wait until apple came to verizon. After a month I prefer the droid because my phone does not look like my co-workers, in other words I can customize it and put the features "I" want. If i want pinch to zoom i can download dolphin, if I want certain widgets or features on my folder then I can do that. Every I phone looks the same. Now for someone who just want a phone thats easy to use and to figure out with out going through all the reseach, the iphone is perfect. Its all up to preference; so to have some guy whipping out his phone and wanting to say how great it is, probably feeling a little insecure about his purchase. If you are happy with what you have, whether its iphone, droid, blackberry, htc, or basic free flip phone...then so be it. Only the user know what they use their phone for. I prefer apps on a good network with the ability to customize but I am not the phone or computer hacker spending hours of my day trying to decode programs i just want my music, sports, net, and phone. I kno folks who dont give a care about internet or music on their phones they just want something to make calls so the basic flip works for them. Business folks prefer bberry because its the best business phone out there.
Point being if you happy with what you have then so be it, if not buy what you want, but you should not need someone else to tell you how great your phone is or how inferior the other is. Make the purchase move on.
