Hey,

I just recently rooted my phone, but don't have the latest OTA Update, Just some background info.

I installed Launcher Pro which I love for the customization and look of it, I honestly do not want to get rid of it. I used Home Screen(haven't Uninstalled) to switch my default launcher to Launcher Pro. I pretty much don't have any widgets besides a calendar widget I've always used and the default android weather widget and BatteryLeft Widget and it seems my battery drains in literally 4 hours.

I read up some where and figured that the sense UI is still running in the background, and I set it to clear state so it have no widgets running either but the phone still has a terrible battery life.

I'm just really confused how some people have launcher pro and it doesn't drain their battery's at all and I have it and every 3 hours I have to replug my phone back in. I've been trying to figure this out but I can't think of anything and was wondering if other people have had this same problem a and have a solution..

If you need anymore information on what apps I have running and what widgets please let me know.

i don't really see how it could be launcher pro for the exact reasons you stated.

do you have shoot me installed to take screen shots? and spare parts?

first go to menu, settings, about phone, battery, what's using the battery and take a screen shot of that.

for the heck of it also check spare parts battery usage
spare parts, battery usage, since last unplugged with other selected, then one with partial wake selected

upload those to a host and post the pics here

that may help us see what is causing it.

you might also check the apps system panel or juice defender as resources to track your issue. I don't use those.

Sorry took so long, ran to the grocery store quick. The 32 minutes Unplugged my phone went from 57% battery too 45% battery.

Also I run SetCPU. When the screen is off the CPU is at 200 Mhz and when its on its underclocked too 800 Mhz, its never max unless plugged in.

Here's the screenshot.

what are your settings on handcent.. specifically screen on and pop up settings...

I found a while back that handcent was turning my screen on anytime I got a txt. then after an update it was keeping the phone awake (partial wake usage in spare parts)

check those settings.....if still occurring you might uninstall and reinstall handcent

check partial wake usage in handcent as well

Just skimmed through your pics, but your Android System is really high, mine stays around 3%

What do you have running? That concerns me for battery life.

I checked Spare Parts and turns out Handcent is higher then Android System for Partial Wake up. I changed the pop up settings to no turn the screen on. Guess when I got a text and it was in my pocket it would wake up the phone and leave it on?

I'm going to run this test for the next 30 minutes and see how much it drops.

Any other settings I should be concerned about?

So I did what you recommended last night. I charged my phone full and I turned off the option in Handcent that asked if it wanted to turn the screen on when the pop up opened. I let my phone sit and because I wasn't texting my girlfriend Handcent wasn't being opened at all. And using BatteryLeft which calculates how much power is being used and such I did a recalibration and during the calibration it we estimating my battery to last around 11 hours.

I thought this was great and this morning while my girl friend was at class taking a test for about 3 hours and not using handcent my battery only dropped to about 92% within 3 hours.

But right away when I began to text her I began to notice my battery drop significantly from 90% to 59% within about an hour and a half. Actually let me correct that now, 46%.

Handcent is eating away at my battery so fast it is getting ridiculous. In spare parts the Handcent partial wake time is back above Android system. So even though the popup doesn't turn on the screen it is still waking up the phone.

What I'm going to do is try having the popup disabled and see if handcent still giving me the status will cause the phone to wake.

Any tips?

Glad to help. If i have caught you in time run a rom that has the ota incorporated. ......if you have already run the ota you may need to root again. Remember to download the most current handcent from the market...then restore the data from titanium.
Alright, Backing up everything with Titanium and installing the new OTA(finally), then I will delete Handcent and Reinstall and do a full battery test.

Really appreciate your help.

This is what I've done. Gotten a replacement new 2.2 evo. Rooted it with unrevoked3. Flashed it to FreshEvo. I have Sense with a clean slate and I use launcher pro with calendar, power control and a couple other widgets from time to time. I get around one and a half days of battery. I also have ShootMe installed as well. My battery may be longer, I've never pushed it to its limits. I do call and text and web browse and stumbleupon and read with aldiko frequently. My secret? Advanced Task Killer set to kill aggressively every 30 minutes. I've yet to see any downsides and it keeps my phone from slowing down too.

Yeah there has always been a big debate on task killer and if it does more harm than good. I personally manually ise it on occassion. I found having it set up on auto cause it itself to drain battery but do use it on the rare occassion. Out of curiosity ...since updating to fresh, have you tried not using it to see if there ks any difference in battery life?

I have mine kill every 30 mins but not aggressively. After this fresh rom and new installation of handcent I've notice a jump in performance so far. Its been unplugged since 1050 and BatteryLeft shows its at 50% but that guesses off earlier calculations. I'm going to keep testing it see if it's any better.

As for your battery lasting a day and a half, how much use is that? I sent about 300-400 texts a day.

Just an update;

After loading the new rom, uninstalling and reinstalling Handcent it work great. Lasted forever, battery left estimated with 22% battery left it had about 2 and a half hours left on the charge. Worked great for two days, but then starting yesterday it got right back into it's old habbit of having a bad battery life, at least it seems. I keep plugging it in once it gets to 60% and whenever I can because I don't want the battery to risk going dead. I'm not sure if it has actually gone back to only lasting 4-6 hours or if its because I wont let it drop below 50%.

My memory is very bad because I had a long weekend but I believe my battery between 50% - 10% is when it lasted the longest, so tonight after class when I'm not so worried about my phone being a life line I'm going to run a test and see how long it lasts using it as normal and letting the battery drain.

I'm just going to have to reorder my Chinese extended battery (My first one didn't work at all).
