Help Small chip/scratch in screen

I just noticed this chip/scratch on my screen. It wasn't there yesterday. And nothing happened to my phone, so it's puzzling as to where it came from.
Especially since nothing "happened", I thought the screen was nearly impossible to scratch? Or in this case it's a bit chipped, so that may be the answer. Anyways, here's the picture.

I'm only 26, have perfect 20/20 vision, and I can't see anything in that shot your provided, minus some smudge-marks. Would you mind maybe circling where this chip/scratch is?

And as I've touted before, Gorilla Glass is still glass...it's prone to chips, scratches, cuts, gashes, and full on cracking under the right conditions. With a screen as big as the X's, there's no reason not to invest in a screen protector.

Sorry that I couldn't get the picture that perfect.
It's the thing above my ring and middle fingers. Between the two and straight up.

I just find it so odd that I didn't do anything and nothing happened to the phone. Yet it's there...

I'm sorry to point this out, but obviously something did happen and you don't remember, right? I mean, the underwear gnomes didn't sneak in and swap out your X, and chips don't spontaneously just appear...so something happened.

Hahaha, I know what you're all thinking. But honestly, nothing happened to it. It goes in my pocket every day. Never dropped it, dropped anything on it, etc... And I'm the only one who touches it. I'm not trying to act innocent, since I don't care about the chip, since I just find it weird.

Keys in your pocket? A quarter? Bump into something? Bump it in the night? Was the screen facing your leg?

And buy a screen protector. For 15-20 bucks you could have peace of mind for stuff like this.

Phone goes in my right pocket. Anything else goes in the left. Always.
And yes, the screen is also facing my leg.

I didn't make this thread to complain. I didn't make it to say "wow, a chip magically appeared!" I just made it because it's weird

Yes and we're trying to get to the bottom of this. If it happened to you.... it could happen to any of us.

Same thing happened to me. I don't believe its gorilla glass.

All I have to say is, that sucks. Maybe try a screen saver and see if it hides the scratch. I had a scratch like that on my Droid1 and it drove me crazy. Then I put on a screen saver and it hid it. I only used the screen protector to hide the scratch. My X is naked.
