Launcher Pro vs Stock Home Screen

I used Launcher Pro on my old Droid 1 and I am just trying to figure out whether I want to run it on my X. My question is, what does Launcher Pro offer over the stock home screen app that comes on the X? The stock one now offers a dock at the bottom and has 7 different screens. So, I am trying to figure out the real advantage now.

Thanks!

Seriously? You have been using it and don't know what it does?

-Change grid size
-change number of home screens
-Dock that you can customize
-3d app drawer where you can hide apps
-nice widgets
-resizeable widgets
-swipe gesture pop ups....

Yes, I used it on my Droid 1. I am trying to see the biggest difference people use LP over the new (2.2) stock one, because the new stock one does add several of the same features that LP has/had. Widget resizing, more than 3 home screens, a dock bar...etc.

Several comment on LP being smooth. So far have I not noticed a problem with the stock one not being smooth.

I am not trying to start a flame fest here. I have been using the stock one since I got my X and just trying to see what everyone sees as being the biggest pluses to using LP.

Thanks everyone for your honest comments so far :)

I would have to agree. I have tried it and not noticed any real difference in speed. I could care less about resizing the widgets, or customizing the widgets. The widgets that come with the phone are perfectly fine and so are the size. I know where everything is with the stock setup and am quite happy with it. Just my 2 cents.

-LP+ has additional widgets including the best Facebook widget (IMO) available for android.
-With LP you can resize ANY widget.
-I have a 5x8 layout (you can choose more or less) on my X which is great for the big screen instead on only 4x4.
-The dock bar with LP is customizable, you can have 5 icons with gestures for additional apps, you can change the background and icons
-You can adjust how many screens you have, not forced to use 7, I only use 3 and I don't like blank screens, you can choose which one is the default screen if you don't want to start on the middle screen

I am not saying that this level of customization is for everyone, I was just pointing out the advantages over the stock launcher. I don't use it because of any smoothness problems, I never had a problem with the stock launcher.

I go back and forth between LPP and stock... The stock setup is not that bad and as much as I hate to admit it, I kinda like it as well...

As far as the LPP widgets go they are nice, but far better widgets are available in the market.... Pure Calendar and Pure Messenger blow the LPP widgets out of the water.... I am not slamming the LPP widgets as they are a nice add on, but there are better to be had IMHO...

Really? You didn't notice ANY difference in speed? Stock X launcher is sooo choppy. The app drawer fades in and out so slowly. You would have to be the only person that doesn't notice this.

He is not the only one, check out my post above. The stock launcher works perfectly smooth for me whereas LPP is extremely laggy since froyo.

One thing to remember is LP is an overlay launcher. Make sure you clear your default launcher screens before moving to LP or use home switcher to go back and remove all the widgets/icons from the default launcher screens. I had a bit of app drawer chop and extra battery drain from widgets I forgot to remove before I cleared all the default screens. :D

Or just delete the stock launcher like I did:D
