Help Anyone Else having issues with ADW Launcher?

Today the status bar at the top of my screen just diappeared in ADW. I shut the phone off and restarted. The status bar came back. Then the setting widget (bluetooth, wifi, etc.) started to look funky almost like static on a tv. I tried to put the widget in the trash can and it would not delete. I swithed to stock android launcher and everythin was fine. Switched back to ADW and still had the funky widget. I deleted ADW and redownload and now it is working fine.

Anyone else experiencing this?

The simple solution is to get launcherpro. Its faster and gets bugs fixed frequently.

I had issues with ADW too. Lagginess being the biggest problem. Not exactly the solution you're looking for maybe, but my vote is for Launcher Pro as well. Works well on my Ally - fast and has been very stable as the updates keep rolling out. This launcher is fixed more frequently than ADW by far.

I had the same problem with Zeam when using Velocity v0.3 and apps2sd. In fact, my phone rebooted and then got stuck at the Velocity screen. I restored a backup ROM of Velocity from before I had moved apps to the sdcard via apps2sd and so far it hasn't happened again. I'm going to run stock Velocity for awhile without transferiing apps to the scard and see what happens.

Just as the others have said, switch to Launcher Pro. Problem solved.

It's not a launcher problem. I used ADW for 3 months prior to switching to Zeam the past 3 weeks. The only time I ever had problems with either launcher was after flashing Velocity v0.3\apps2sd. Not saying LP is not worth a try, but I personally I wouldn't switch. LP was ridiculously laggy on my phone where Zeam and ADW were smooth as silk. ADW took some tweaking of the settings to get it smooth, but Zeam works perfectly right out of the box, so-to-speak. Plus, I have much more available memory using either Zeam or ADW than I do using LP.

Was the OP having issues with ADW and apps2sd? I didn't see that anywhere. Sounded like an issue with widgets. I think all these launchers will need some kind of tweaking for various configs on phones (maybe Zeam a little less..don't know). I tried Launcher Pro first, then ADW, then Zeam. Back to LP.

As for the OP's issue, sounds like a "fluke" with the widget. I've had issues with each launcher (expect for Zeam) at some point, but have been able to track down most causes.

I've had problems with ADW too and no problems with LauncherPro, ADW is good based on what I've seen on other phone's but it can get unstable on some LG Ally's, I believe the phone needs to have some type of GPU for ADW to work well, and since the Ally doesn't have one it can get unstable if you have a lot of graphic intense things running. Plus RAM is an issue on the Ally too.

I don't really know if he was or wasn't, but he was having the exact same issue with a widget that I had once I started using apps2sd. I was just making him aware that I had the same problem as he did with another launcher so it wasn't neccesarily an ADW issue. Sorry if that bothered you so much. Next time i'll just let you experts handle it instead of trying to help.

Have never had this problem, or any other, with ADW and i've been using it since July. I think it's very interesting that we all have the same phone with the same apps, yet the problems we encounter are very individual.

i think that is a feature in adw, flick the screen up and it will come back. i agree that widgets do act a little bitchy too, especially the weather flip clock. you have to pick your zip code before you select the widget size for some reason. other than that i never had a problem with any launcher except the stock one or the crappy lg one. i had this problem once and cleared my personal settings, not the app, with TI backup and it was good.

Since switching to Velocity .4 (from .3) the phone crashes even MORE. Hopefully removing Launcher Pro will fix this problem.

ADW has "swipe" commands. When you swipe UP on the desktop it make the notification bar go away, up again and it returns. swiping down opens notifications. these can be modified or disable in the ADW settings. I have mine set for UP opens dock bar (which holds 6 quick launch icons).

Ive been using launcherpro plus since i was beta testing velocity 0.4 and am still to this day. I have not had a single reboot.

i had a similar problem with velo .2 to .3 i loaded a old rom(dapper duck) then reloaded v6 and after i got the otas i re flashed velo .3 and had no problems... i oced my cpu to 768 and had no fc's and used adw

Damn, I was afraid of that (missing an ota update that was actually helpful).

I think you're saying that I need to unroot, flash to stock ROM, get ota updates, re-root and flash back to Velocity .4 (or another ROM)

Today I removed LauncherPro and installed Zeam. Phone has crashed once, got stuck on DROID and needed battery pulled.

I'll try ADW and see if it helps. If not then I will (SIGH) go back to stock and get the updates. (homework!)

Dots, you're running aosp30 stable?! Color me JEALOUS! I thought the builds were only up to 22 and not yet stable... No camera, right?

**Phone crashed again this morning. Problem probably not not caused by the Launcher. Instead of trying a 3rd time with a Launcher I'm going to unroot and get the ota updates.
Then I'm gonna try aosp30 and test Froyo 2.2

I thought I used something called z4root when I originally started playing with the phone. But now I can't find that app. I'm sure there's a how to unroot thread around here somewhere...
