bloatware vent

Hm... I'll have to search around for that. So it is possible to root my phone, remove the bloat, then unroot it?

It is possible to do this. There are problems with this since the bloat is gone its easy for someone at vzw to see that you were once rooted. Also not having the bloat generally borks future OTAs so you would have reroot and replace the bloat.

You can get back to stock using sbf files though.

You don't delete the files, just rename them.

Exactly. Did that this weekend and the phone flies as a result. Can't believe how long startup used to take with all that cr@p being preloaded. And if there is a problem with the phone and it needs to be exchanged, then as mentioned, you just rename them from *.bak to *.apk. Easy as pie.

Speaking of calendars, groovejedi, is the stock google calendar still on the phone somewhere if I deactivate the moto version?

Yea, I decided to root anyway and I renamed a bunch of .apk file to .bak so when an update hits or I need to take my phone in I can change them back and remove the superuser.apk. After I restore it it should be back to factory. For now I'll just leave it rooted :) Thanks for the info
