thread locking

Moved to the appropriate forum for further discussion.

Sometimes it's just not possible to PM every user in regards to a deleted post. We've all had threads that we've managed from our phones or threads that where 50+ posts were edited.

Not knowing the thread you are referring to (but I'll be more than happy to look into it if you link it), regardless of if it's the lounge or not, forum rules still apply. Debating a topic = ok. Debating users = not ok. Arguing is typically over the latter but once again, having not seen the thread....

Since this thread has drifted into the land of nothing resembling productive, I'm just going to close it.
ITS THE LOUNGE!!

Well, looking into it a bit more, I have to agree with the actions taken.

The thread was quickly turning into a "_(insert name)_ is a troll because __(insert reason)__" thread. You were there, I'm sure you remember how it looked. :)

Had I crossed the thread before OTD, I would have likely issued warnings (thus generating PMs). Guess you should be happy that OTD saw it first! :p

As mentioned above, disagreeing on a topic = ok. Name calling and such is not ok. Name calling/fighting/arguing (pointlessly) is what ultimately lead to the thread being closed. Regardless of if it's the lounge or not, the rules still need to be followed.

The subforums are areas of the lounge that DO have topics. If I were to post about how I love Bacon in the literature subforum I would fully expect the thread to be closed or moved as it's not the correct place. If I were to rant/rave about how, *Disclaimer: Not the case but rather an example*, I hate DaS (the mod above) , I would expect that my post be deleted and/or the thread closed.

Does that help to make more sense? :)

I know I'm a little late to this discussion, but I figured I would add to it since it was my actions that prompted it.

All of the posts deleted in that thread were done so because they were mostly insulting to other members. While I did not go back and look I would most likely say that your's either contained the content I am referring to or quoted it in a reply. Generally speaking we are often pretty loaded with things going on here. That said, you can always PM one of us if you have questions about why things went a certain way. Since we can all look behind the scenes it is usually pretty easy to determine the cause of such actions.

thanks chief!!

personally if a post gets deleted i do think that a PM should be necessary... but thats me..

thanks for your time! :)
To answer your comment about us being "THAT busy," yes we actually are. I don't know if you've noticed the magnitude of posts that go through this forum, but if you haven't, it's alot. Remember, we don't just sit in one forum the entire day, we actually have to look over the whole forum. And not every "bad" post is reported, so we have to sometimes manually go into threads and browse around.
