Battery Status Replacement?

The battery status is horrible. Why does it look like it's at 50% when at 30%?

I downloaded an app that puts the percentage in the status bar, but it's at the top left in notifications.

Is there an app that replaces the current icon with one with a percentage or, at least, is more accurate?

I doubt there is. I didn't find anything on Marketplace or through search.

Is the app you're using My Battery Status? I too wish I can replace the default battery with one with percentages (and with root, it might be possible to replace the images), but for now, I'd be happy with just a prettier status icon for My Battery Status. Seriously, who thought having a big red circle with the number in the center was a good idea?

I don't want a widget on my home screen. I just want to replace the current battery indicator in the status bar (at the top right) with a better (actually accurate) one.

Like Jack mentioned, check out "Battery Indicator" in the market... It won't replace the current battery icon in the status bar, but it will add an indicator to the left side of the status bar that shows the percentage. No widgets taking up space on the homescreen... Probably the closest thing to what you want without rooting... hope that helps.

Cyanogen mod (ROM) is the best for this. It replaces it and looks nice.

This is true. That ROM, for me, was wonky and laggy. And killed my battery. I use Battery Left. I would prefer to have the icon in the task bar removed, but I guess you can't have it all.
