Just got my fascinate in the mail this afternoon and am loving the first hour or so with it. Rooted, installed cw, and nandroid backup already. Wish I had more time tonight, but have to be a good husband for awhile!

Just want to say thanks for all the good information available here that lead me to what I needed! I'll be glued in here and xda from now on

Now there's good man.:)
All you gotta do now is unbloat, debing and get voodoo on there. If you can DL one of kernels you could flash it with your wife. She might actually be entertained by the conversion process when the voice is talking to you and enjoy the new bootscreen...or she might be disturbed that you have a female droid talking to you on your phone and a urinating droid:p

However, let me advise you to use this rooting method: How to Root - Android Forums
I think this is the same app you wanna use [don't]: http://androidforums.com/fascinate-...w-universal-one-click-simple-root-method.html

Well I should be joining you guys with a Samsung Fascinate by the 19th. I cannot go over the details, but lets just say Verizon is hooking me up and I am giving up the X for it. (That is all I can say on the matter)

I am looking forward to some custom roms on this baby. Think there will be as many as the Droid or even the Droid Incredible?

just to check back in with everyone
-I did root with the super one click method, and it worked and 2 min. Mayeb I just got lucky...who knows
-I then used odin to flash the cwm package
-then installed rom manager
-flashed cwm
-backed up
-wiped data and cache
-installed dirkk's lv1.2 ghz voodoo kernel

I didn't run across any problems the whole way, so that took me about 10 min from start to finish, granted I already had everything set-up and ready to go:D

I will check back in later on how I am liking it...on my way to NYC atm:)

Nice buddy just goes to show when you are in the know its literally a few minutes process. Admittedly now you still have another 10 minutes of work to get the bloat off and de-bing :p

Even though the phone is still new to you, how are you liking it compared to the Droid X?

I can't really compare the speed as have been using my D1 for he past week, but here is what I notice so far

1)Screen size
- A 4in screen may be the optimal screen size for me. I am really liking it. Feels more manageable than the X
2)Feel
-I really like how the phone looks. It is very slim and very sleek looking
-I also prefer the soft buttons, but that is just personal preference
3) Screen
-I love this screen, the colors look really nice and it is good in the light
4)Rootability
-I love how easy it is to install custom roms and kernels
5)Misc
-the drivers are very easy to get installed, with the X they were very finicky.

So far I am loving it
If there any specific things you would like to know about let me know.

I will definitely be needing your help when I get mine. The X was the first Android phone I actually rooted. So from the little reading so far it appears to be a little different on the Fascinate, I will read the threads more throughly when I get mine.

Is it different to install custom roms on this? Also if you brick your phone is there still a way to get it back alive? Like the Droid X's sbf, is that kind of what odin is?
