Help can you get rid of all that bing stuff without rooting?

You can get rid of most of it without rooting. Only thing you can't do is make the long touch on the capacitive search key initiate google voice search. Need to use the screen icon to do this. Othewise, I have all the google search engines and the short press on the cap button launches google search directly (not via web browser). Do a search for the Enhanced Google APK and Fascinate. I am sure you will find what you need. And you will have to run Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher, instead of Touch Wiz.

All Verizon phones that do not come with Droid Branding will be loaded with Bing! Rediculous if you ask me, but that's the cold hard truth of the deal they have with microsoft.

What is the difference between the Google phones that are branded as Droid and the Google phones that are not? Is there any significance to the labeling of the phone Droid (lilke minimum specs)?

I know this whole Bing thing is about $, and that's fine, but it is still bizarre to have a Google phone without Google to me. Non-Google Google phones aren't even a consideration for me at this point.

It's a shame we have to go to a little trouble to get google instead of bing. But really, it is not THAT much trouble. You just have to side load the enhanced google search and use LauncherPro and Dolphin HD. Really, I like both those apps and would use them anyway over the stock launcher and browser.
Only thing that kinda dampens things is the barely audible turn by turn directions in Google Nav and its sometimes bizarre routings. I have replaced the stock car dock app with custom car home and have it turn on bluetooth and GPS automatically. Then launch my GPS and Google nav apps from there. I have google search icon on there as well and it does google voice search just fine. I also have that icon on one of my home pages. OK, so big deal, I just don't use the capacitive search button unless I want Bing voice search for some reason. I have found that "Places" or "Yelp" finds restaurants and places that neither Google search nor Bing seem to find.
