Headphone socket, am I seeing things?

Sorry, but you are seeing things .... what you're seeing is the soldered end of the headphone socket, nothing made of glass .......
Actually not the soldered end of anything it the rear of the led light ,the socket is not sealed at all ,i have put a iphone silicon port protector in mine to stop the ingress of dust.
My Samsung P3 MP3 players socket is the same ,but since phones are almost always inserted it does not matter:cool:

It's not the back of the LED light, the led is a surface mount component.
The circle of glass I see does not light up with the LED. It's hard to see what's behind, when you shine a light down the socket it reflects back.
Does anyone have a high res photo of the mainboard headphone socket area?

Just watched the disassembly video, the socket is sealed :)
there is something behind the socket but I can't see what it is.

The LED light just below it is exposed through the headphone socket when you have it plugged in charging or when a notification occurs, I can see it at night since I lay the phone face down (rubber skin) and the light reflects off my wall through the headphone socket.

true but the bottom of it is deelper than the led light. on most headphone sockets there is a clear plastic bit. its a dust cap.
