Just wondering if there is a way to install maps directly onto the phone/sd card?

Have Google maps & Wisepilot as the preinstalled apps & would like to use either one of them without a wifi or wap connection!

Tried all sorts of searches on here & google but nothing really to answer it :(

Xpgs is the first hit if you google it.

Anyway, here's the link xGPS
You should be able to figure it out from there (it's easy)

Thanks i downloaded the maps on my computer but i can not incroporate them into my xperia, can you tell me whether it is supported by Gmaps and where to copy the downloaded file *.db in my xperia

osmand with downloading in tangogps (linux app).

installed osmand on phone and tangogps on laptop
set up osmand to use OsmaRender (settings > map > map tile source > OsmaRender)
looked at a map (this downloaded some tiles and saved them to the sdcard)
unmounted sdcard in android mounted SD card under linux (/SDCARD, your's will be different)
opened tangogps
set tangogps to save to the same directory as osmand using OSM (/SDCARD/osmand/tiles/OsmaRender/)
downloaded a lot of maps using the right click +layers feature of tangogps
added a .tile to them with
Code:
> cd /SDCARD/osmand/tiles/OsmaRender/
> for file in $(ls */*/*.png); do mv $file ${file}.tile ; done
unmounted sdcard and put it back in phone.
used newly downloaded maps.

PS you could use Google maps but I prefer maps that are editable.
