Help Google Contacts Constantly Syncing Lately

Have you tried disabling sync under the acccounts & sync settings, and then reenabling it? Also, restarting the phone, and perhaps if you've installed any new apps, it would be worth it to try uninstalling them. Those are the main things that come to mind. I sometimes notice mine syncs more often than others. Someone in another thread mentioned an app named Tasker, which lets you schedule sync. I haven't tried it myself, but plan to. It may be worth giving a shot as well if none of that other stuff helps.

*ah, that is a paid app..not sure if there's any free ones..i myself tend to prefer dealing with ads after purchasing apps for windows mobile phones that i then could no longer use when i changed to a different phone OS*

Yeah I have tried disabling and then re-enabling sync. After re-enabling it I sometimes get a message that stating the there is currently a problem with sync, but then it ends up correcting itself.

Tried tuning off the phone, taking the battery out and then putting it back in. Still does the same thing. I'm thinking about just turning off contacts sync and only turning it on when I add a contact. I'll just have to hope to remember to enable it again when adding someone new...smh...

An additional thing problem is when I would re-enable sync, I would get an error that said "sync is currently experiencing problems" along with a red exclamation point.

I finally found a fix though. I clicked the menu button and went to settings > applications > manage applications > contacts storage. I clicked "clear data" and then re-synced my gmail contacts back to my phone. None of my contacts were lost. I backed them up on my computer just in case by exporting them from gmail.

Hope this helps anyone else who has had a similar problem. Now if only I can get my Facebook pictures to show up for my contacts again...

I've been having the same problems. I just wiped my Google address book clean, and I'm trying to sync a blank address book to my Hero to clear that out. (don't worry; I made back-ups of the local address book and the Google address book). Right now, I don't think it's making any difference, but we'll see later.

Did anyone else ever find a fix to this problem?

I was having problems with my contacts. Some of my contacts started disappearing one by one, would not sync to Google, would not sync to Facebook. I finally got it synced to Google but somehow lost half my contacts but it added ALL my Facebook friends, whether they had a phone number or not! Checked Google and it was the same! I went through one by one and deleted what I didn't need and fixed the numbers that were missing but it still wasn't syncing to Facebook and then I wasn't getting e-mail notifications! Urg! Finally I factory reset my phone and started over. Contacts synced to Google, contacts synced to Facebook and I'm getting e-mail notifications again. Whew!

Oh wow you went the factory reset route? BOLD! lol. I just got fed up with everything and decided to root my phone. Wasn't hard to do at all and you can even use Titanium Backup to reinstall your apps, should you chose to do a factory reset.

Lol. I kinda like to start over every once in awhile anyway. ;) Sadly my email notifications stopped again and not getting Facebook texts anymore either. Ho hum. I get my upgrade in 2 weeks but don't want anything Sprint has right now. Hoping for a Hero 2 soon. Would love an iPhone but that will never happen. :(

Not even the Epic4G? I guess that extra $10/month deters me away from it also. Every since I rooted my phone though it's like new. And no more taking 10 seconds before I can actually dial a call lol.

Nope. I had a Moment and hated it so don't plan on jumping into a Samsung slider any time soon. Plus the $10 more a month, which is total BS. My bill has already gone up $10 a month and I haven't changed anything! Luckily I haven't had the "dialer lag" problem. ;)
