i know what i'm doing tonight.

Why dont I have the 'install zip from sd card' option in my recovery? I have 'reboot system now', 'install: update.zip', 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache partition'. Can I rename the rubiXFocused.zip to update.zip?

I guess I should mention that I have a Droid X freshly rooted with SuperOneClick.

Sounds like you need bootstrap recovery.

Wipe data?...so I'd have to reload all my personal stuff and set everything up like it's new? Is a data wipe necessary when applying a ROM?

I'm new to all this.

yea, it is necessary. i was worried about having to do this too before i installed zapX, but it really isn't that bad. just make sure to backup with Titanium Backup Pro (back up "all user apps") and once the ROMs installed restore "all apps and data". after that i really didn't have to do much. just speed dial and ringtones and other little things here and there.

D/l'd the rom through Rom Manager. Worked fine. I was surprised it had a light notification bar. Oh well. Using TiBU Pro, I'm able to restore apps and settings, fine. I dunno. I just didn't get my blood pumping. So, I'm back to Drop Red X with build prob mods. I am not trashing it, I just wanted to try it out and it's okay. I want to try Fab's ZapX next. Tomorrow, prolly.

ApeX is Fab's rom, and it's awesome. ZapX is by drewgaren, I haven't tried it yet though

got rubiX set up last night and not overly happy with it. it's just as speedy as zapX was for me, but with a whole bunch of issues that i just didn't want to deal with. so i restored back to zapX and think i will be sticking with it.

So... a whole bunch of issues? Like what? (love to hear this one.. heh).
The only issues I saw you post about over at droidxforums, were regarding how to follow the installation instructions. :p

So far, almost every issue that I've read regarding this ROM, is that someone wants an app that isn't included because it's a blurless rom (backup assistant, car dock, 3gHotSpot, etc. (patch available for CarDock already.. others *may* be available... )

If you have an issue with the ROM, again, please post, and perhaps it will be resolved.

I've fixed the scripts so that Focused 1.0 will install correctly from ROM Manager.

During the install, it will also ask you which camera you want, DefaultFocused, or Blur... as well as which Keyboard, AOSP, or DefaultFocused... (Default Focused being the one that DRod included in Focused 1.0.

I have also added a CHANGE OPTIONS menu in ROM Manager, that will allow you to select and change between the cameras, and keyboards.

If you're the type of person that would rather do things by hand... the files are also here:
DefaultFocused keyboard, and camera - These are the ones that come installed on rubiX Focused 1.0 by default, so that you can go back to them if you wish!

BlurCamera (Version provided to me by DRod)-

AOSP Keyboard (Version provided to me by DRod)-

I know there are a few versions/patches/etc. of the BlurCamera files out there... This one was the version provided to me by DRod. I've done basic testing of all of these patches, as well as testing that the patches work correctly in ROM Manager.

Please post if you're having any issues with ROM Manager, and/or the patches with rubiX Focused 1.0.

Hmmm.....I am running 0.5 and have gotten 1558 as the highest quadrant score, normal scores are in mid to upper 1400s. Beyond that though, I do not think I will be updating just yet. Battery percentages by the 20s? I hate it enough being by the 10s instead of by single digits.....why the heck would I want it by the 20s?

Loved the rom so far but as long as he keeps it by the 20s I won't be updating beyond 0.5.

bleh, if you use any battery widget, it's fine. Just the notification bar.
talking to DRod about it... patch probably not far out.

stalker! lol. it was my second ever ROM installation, gimme a break :p.

as far as issues go, my gmail didn't seem to want to sync between my phone and computer. i would have to check mail in both places for it to actually be marked as read. new emails wouldn't popup. i spent about 30min uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing cache etc just with gmail with no luck.

wifi wouldn't connect automatically unless i went to wireless network settings. tried to troubleshoot that one too, but no luck. i did notice wifi was a lot quicker though. loading websites was easily a few seconds quicker than stock or zapX. looked in the forums for a mention of either of these issues, but i think it was just me.

and lastly, yea, i missed some of my blur apps. mainly backup assistant, which i went through the trouble of acquiring and installing. it seemed to work fine and would claim to sync fine, but my contacts never loaded. i know you can backup with gmail, but apparently i hadn't before and didn't want to have to spent 15min switching between ROMs just for that. also missed my text messaging app from blur which i manually installed. couldn't get that one working either.

honestly, i just wanted to try it. didn't think i would be sticking with it regardless. just wanted to see what a blurless ROM is like and after trying it, it really isn't all that much quicker than zapX, which has everything i need including the speed. nothing against the ROM. it's pretty solid.

edit: oh yea and the blur camera too. i managed to get that one working on my own tho.

LOL.. didn't mean to, just trying to compile a list of issues... which I've been doing, and then trying to solve as many as possible!

I haven't had a problem with GMail.. seemed to work out of the box for me.. so that's a weird one. And yea, removing data/cache from the gmail app should solve most issues associated with it. would have been happy to help troubleshoot further *shrug*

Wifi not connecting.. I'm going to venture that you're connecting to an AP that doesn't broadcast it's SSID... and I'd guess that you're using a widget (or ?) to toggle it. That issue has been reported in several roms, and I could recreate it on 2.3.9 Leak as well. *shrug*..

I believe I have a patch for backup assistant, that would probably fix it, but I'm not sure I"ll release it. Instead, recommending people move those contacts from BUA to Google Contacts as detailed here:
[ROM]FRF91 AOSP Fission - Beta Preview - Page 17 - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
I've not tried this, has anyone given it a shot? Can someone confirm if it works or not?

From MyVerizon:
--Contacts at the top:
--View Contacts (bottom right)
--Select All (Top Right)
--From the drop down (to the right of select all), choose Export Contacts

Then import on into google Contacts...

Please let me know if this works or not!

And, the BlurCamera.. that is one solution. DRod also has a version of the AOSP camera that will do 8mp (not 100% sure about HD Camcorder yet.. am about to test. Should be up sometime today.

Hope this helps!
I CAN say, that the more options available for our phone.. the better!
And if one ROM isn't for you, don't sweat it, there are others! Enjoy!

I have tried to install this twice. It installs fine, but when I try to restore Data I boot loop on the animation. The second time I made a Nandroid of RubiX, full restored to my old Nandroid and restored System of the RubiX. I got the same bootloop. My current Rom is the first release of RubiX with some custom mods. Anyone know why it would bootloop on a data restore?

Aha! That explains a LOT! I installed through ROM manager, selected to clear cache and data and my apps were still there. Perhaps I'll try it again.

One question: Why is the pull-down bar white? Are you leaving that to be a theme over the RubiX??
