birdman posted his latest test kernel over at xda (the others were irc only) and it apparently has colorfix and backlight notifications, no voodoo lagfix atm though. Might be interesting.

Ill check it out when i get home.

anyone know if this will be easy to remove like the other kernels or if you will have to go through the long process of completely uninstalling voodoo to prevent from ruining your phone?

This one is not voodoo compatible. So if you have voodoo which most of us do then yeah you gotta go back in and disable it. If not its a quick flash. Of course they are on record saying voodoo is coming and likely in the next revision. Could be a couple days or a couple weeks. My guess is sooner than later

just installed test20 a few minutes ago after disabling voodoo. initial impressions are the color seems a tad less bluish but that could be placebo effect a lot smoother than stock, but ill have to put it through the paces before i can really tell.

once this gets hooked up with voodoo, that could be pretty sweet

Yeah honestly I think I will do the same. Too often the first release is buggy and needs revision. No disrespect to the dev's or anyone using this first release [thanks again to nitsuj17 for taking the plunge]. But I got a business trip in a couple days and will need this baby all reliable and what not. Although I suppose I could try it today and if it borks I'd have enough time to restore it. Eh, what to do? I think I'll wait and wait for more opinions

ran stress test for 10 mins, surfed a few sites, played angry birds and a few other apps and seemed very smooth. I can say a definite improvement from stock for sure. No force closes or sync problems, no noticeable lag from what I did.

Also, I reinstalled voodoo and theres no problems so its fairly easy to hop back and forth. All I did was clockwork, wipe davlik cache, and reinstall 1200sv voodoo. I wipe davlik out of habit so I'm not saying you have to.

Easy back and forth with no issues. Colorfix is tough, I "guess" the colors were better I am going back to test20 for now and Ill use it for the next day to see how everyday performance is. Of course I'm sure a new one will be up, ha!

Love playing with this phone.

yeah so I effed my phone up. I got the 0.00mb internal memory and force close hell. Everything is fine now though

Think there is some type of mandatory initiation rite where we all have to bork the SF at least once. You aint a part of the club yet unless you've had to do the full odin restore or spent many minutes staring a blank screen with lit soft keys

Yeah disabled voodoo with the usual disable lagfix. Rebooted then booted to clockwork and flashed birdmans kernel.

To go back to voodoo i deleted the disable lagfix file and booted to car flashed dirrks kernel and was back to voodoo.

Then repeated to go back to test20

Tbh i don't know the reasoning as to why to wipe....on my inc the revs always said to wipe davlik between kernels...i guess it was just to have a clean slate and less chance for conflicts/errors

it went deeper than that. I know with the droid x I had to flash the sbf about 10 times in total

I was curious about odin, I had to flash the sbf one day about five times before I got it right. So is it about the same on the SF? Once you do it the first time then after that it is pretty easy?

yes and no. odin has 3 parts to it, system/kernel/recovery...sometimes 1 fixes, sometimes you need all. but basically voodoo is the cause of most problems and has to be be removed to fix things so a lot of the issues come that way and arent just cured by an odin flash like an sbf.

just like anythign else though once youve been through it once you get the hang of it, just like sbf-ing the first time was awful.

only real issue I noticed was wifi toggling on/off. I read at xda about it, and was like "i dont have that issue" and then i realized (stupidly) that I hadnt tried turning off wifi, and of course it won't. So far that seems to be the only issue, but apparently birdman is aware of it.

Going back to voodoo for now, battery life seemed good/comparable to my voodoo 1.2 sv experience

oh how i wish i read your post before downloading this kernel. gonna reboot and hope it fixes the issue. i don't use my wifi all that much, so it's not a deal killer for me. love the notifications!

edit: reboot does not help with wifi issues.. mine's still on. if you flash this kernel, don't turn on wifi! i may have to jump back to my 1.2GHz kernel.. currently reading XDA for advice lol

edit2: i tried to flash birdman's kernel again, and wifi stayed on. i'm guessing it's because the wifi was stuck on the entire time, and during a reboot, those wireless settings stay there. i've flashed my 1.2GHz kernel and turned off wifi.

i may swap back to birdman's kernel because i like those notifications. seeing as how wifi isn't as important to me.

if your in wifi-area now can you check that wifi is actually on or its just that teh wifi notification is on? I was seeing different answers from people on that. I'm at work and don't have my phone on/no wifi anyway.

so here's the thing. when you go to turn off the wifi via the power widget, the button will stay illuminated. the wifi icon in the notification bar goes away though. i'll get the 3G icon back. to confirm if it was off.. I went to phone settings. my phone still had a wifi MAC address. I assume that because of that, it still was on.
