The more I see this tablet, the more I kind of like it. I just saw what may be the full specs for the Cruz tablet at, but it was the only place that had a complete spec list, including processor, but if it is the 800mhz Snapdragon, I would be OK with that. The fact that it has 512mb of RAM is a huge plus over the Gen8 Archos tabs. I really can't wait until some of these tablets hit the streets, we are in desperate need of something other than Chinese knockoffs.

Funny, I was just looking at this a few minutes ago. The specs are good, and I do like the 512mb RAM. I sitll think I'll wait a while for a tab that fits all of my wants. But I will find one to play with come October 15! I wonder if they will have them in the Borders stores?

I'll bet they will be selling them in Borders, they are currently selling the Velocity reader, so they should sell the tablet. I'm definitely going to check it out at least when it's released.

Yeah. It will be nice to get my hands on one of the newer tablets. :) I'm just hoping I don't walk out of the store with one.

If it really is the 800mhz Snapdragon, I don't think I'd mind walking out with it. The other day I was looking around in either the slatedroid or androidtablets forum and there is some decent development going on for the Velocity reader, so I'd imagine that the tablet would have that plus some, but it would just be a hold over until the Gingerbread tablets come out.

Another place they might have it is at Fry's Electronics. I noticed that the Fry's store near me currently sells Cruz readers.

While that would be nice, I think I'll stick with a 7" model. It's a lot easier for me to carry around and would be easier for me to hold etc.

So the short list is

Velcity Cruz tabelt - I like the price and the specs on it
the Samsung Galaxy tab - Only if the price is lower than 400.00 though
and the 7 inch Dell tablet that still rumored.

However, Dixons is going to be selling a rather reasonably priced 10 inch Vega model that looks mighty tempting.... :(

The Borders ads and the website are still saying a release date of tomorrow for the Cruz tablet. You can bet I'll be there to check this tablet out! :D I'm encouraged that someone has already installed Market on the Cruz reader, so a similar install shouldn't be too tough for the tablet. That tablet has some promise....

Really? Where do you live? I live in Seattle and just checked the Borders website and it's saying November 1st as a release date, I haven't seen any ads around here, I hope your right though.

All these push backs on release dates for tablets are really getting annoying. Are we ever going to actually see a decent 7" or 10" tablet, I'm not so sure now.

The problem, I think, is that many of the manufacturers are waiting for Google to release Gingerbread. Releasing a tablet with an OS that the OS manufacturer doesn't officially support probably isn't the most desirable situation for many manufacturers.

If this really does have a 800mhz snapdragon then that's not to bad. That said though this thing has fail written all over it. Android 2.0(according to the specs on Velocity Micros website) and no front facing camera? I mean this has to be the only tablet coming out without a FFC. The only thing this things has over the Archos 70 are the 512Mb of ram and the design(that's my opinion of course. I just happen to like the design of the cruz and GTab better then the Archos 70). This thing is way too expensive when you consider other 7 and 10 inch tablets coming out with more features at around the same price point.

Which is true if you want a ffc or any camera which isn't one of my needs. For me this tablet would be better than the Archos.

Now if they'd just release it so I could actually try it out I might not have to buy that darned Galaxy Tab. ;)

For $300 though? Really? Ok, you don't need a FCC I can respect that. What about no flash support? The thing is shipping with Android 2.0. It's a nice tablet for $200(the reader should only be $150) but not $300.

 Ok. You got me with that one! No flash support is a major deal breaker for me..

Looks like I'm back to waiting for the Galaxy again....
