Accessories Amazon dropped the ball...

So I was cruising around the internet Thursday night/Friday morning and I decided it was time to get the Seidio Active X case for my phone. Dialed up Amazon.com, punched in the case, hit 'add to cart', and I see in bold lettering, "ORDER WITHIN THE NEXT 18 HOURS AND GET IT SATURDAY BY 11 AM"... Perfect!!! I'm not a very patient guy, so this suited me just fine. The shipping charge was $16 dollars, but hey to save myself two days without the case, I was willing to part ways with an extra $10 bucks (regular shipping was like $5.99) no problem.

Well 11 am came and went... no case. Even worse, Saturday came and went... no case. This sucks, I HATE waiting. And now I don't just have to wait an extra day, I have to wait 2 extra days. I am not a happy camper. Obviously Monday I will call them up straight away and let them know they will be refunding me the rush shipping charge I paid. But honestly this is just very disappointing to me. Heck it's not like I waited until the very last second or anything. The notice didn't say, "order in the next 18 seconds"... it said in the next 18 HOURS!

I know this will probably come off as being petty to most of you out there. But for me, when I zero in on something that I really want, I like to get it ASAFP... and I don't mind driving for an hour to go pick it up in a nearby town, or paying extra for over night shipping. So long as it gets into my hand quicker, I'm all for giving a little extra for it. So when it didn't come today, I got seriously bummed out, and in turn seriously pissed off. I'm not sure if it was Amazon's fault, or the shipping company, but someone is getting an ear full come Monday.

You best believe that!

I'd always qustion saturday delivery. That said, depending on the agreement, you can get the shipping costs refunded. The only problem with amazon is there is nobody you can "talk" to.

I was curious about that, I've not dealt with Amazon a whole lot, and never had to contact them for any complaints. So how is this accomplished, via email?

What the hell are you talking about? Customer service via phone is offered 24/7. Even better is that you can either request them to call you instantly (which is just that, it takes less than a second after submitting a request to get the call) or schedule a call to a preferred time to your liking.

Amazon has been a vital purchasing venue for me since last Christmas. Rarely have I had issues with shipments, but when I have, Amazon has never dropped the ball. Unfortunately shipping issues like these can be common, and most of the time it's due to the actual SHIPPING company, not Amazon. I can definitely reassure you that Amazon will refund you for the shipping costs (not sure if it will be for the entire amount or the difference of expediting), but I wouldn't worry.

Call them up and let them know what's going on.

Unless your buying from amazon directly your really buying from Seidio. To my understanding Seidio sells their products directly on that site not Amazon... It goes like this (Seidio>Customer)Amazon, not Seidio>Amazon>Customer.

It does in fact work like this, unfortunately not in this case. Looks like Amazon is the direct seller of this case (usually it will state "Sold by *name of company* fulfilled by Amazon) in the case you explained above.

I ordered something from Amazon last week (and have done so several times - Love 'em). I get free 2 day shipping with my Prime account ant I was told it would come on a Thursday, which came and went, and nothing. When I checked the status, it said delivery was attempted and would be tried again the next day. My wife is home ALL DAY! There was no attempt to deliver it!! It wasn't the end of the world, but I was a bit ticked that they lie like that. They used some company called On Trac. Must be cheaper than UPS or FedEx, which is why I didn't get it on time. I don't blame Amazon for the delivery issue, but they are the ones that hired these monkeys!!!

Well fellas, when I'm in the wrong I'm the 1st to admit it, and as embarrassing as this is to admit, I dropped the ball with this thread. I'd had a little too much to drink Saturday night, and let my frustrations get the best of me... BIG TIME!!! And since I'm often a vocal opponent of people coming on here and bashing things that others on this board hold in high regard, I owe an apology to anyone that is a fan of Amazon, not to mention Amazon themselves!

I waited and waited for my case to come in today, and when it didn't I went back and looked through my emails again. I didn't see anything from Amazon, then it occurred to me that my Amazon account was tied to my AOL account, not my Gmail account. So I checked my AOL account and found an email from them sent out mere hours after I'd placed the order. Then I checked the address... somehow it had been sent to my old address? Now that part was a bit odd because I clearly remember filling out the 'ship to' section with my new address. So that part is still a bit of a mystery? But one quick phone call later and it was confirmed, my case had been delivered to my ex's house on Saturday as it was supposed to have been. Wow, had she have had the common courteousy to call or text me and let me know it had shown up there, this all could have been avoided.

Again, my apologies to Amazon.

As for the case, I'm very happy with it. It's very well made, very stylish (IMO), seems as though it will take great care of my phone, and although it does add thickness to the phone, it's not nearly as thick and cumbersome as I had been anticipating. So that's a plus!

The only issue I had to get around was the fact that I actually do use the lanyard strap on my DX, and this case does not leave any access to the lanyard at all. No biggie, I simply cut a small slit in the rubber, pushed the lanyard through it, and everything was fine.

It's worth mentioning that everything fit just fine with the extended battery and door on, but I wound up taking the battery door off anyway just because with this case on the battery isn't going anywhere!!! I WOULD DEFINITELY recommended this case to anyone on the fence about it. It doesn't have a kick stand unfortunately, but besides that it's really, really nice.

I got the maroon. And in my opinion the maroon exo-skelleton against the black rubber looks great!

Amazon often uses OnTrac for CA delivery. I also have Prime and a lot of my 2-day deliveries are made by OnTrac.

A couple of week ago I ordered an HP printer from Amazon with 2-day free Prime shipping. It wasn't an inexpensive printer so I was waiting for the delivery before I headed out. I heard a thump so headed form the back of the house to the front door and by the time I got there the guy was already in the truck. I ran out and asked him why he didn't wring the bell. He said that they are just supposed to deliver it. I told him if he ever delivers something to this address again to ring the bell.

It's too bad there's no way for OPs to delete their threads. It's easy to rant on something and later wish you had approached it a little differently. I know ... first hand ... from experience ... as you know.

Yeah it would have been nice to have been able to sweep this thread under the rug and pretend it never happened. But since almost 48 hours had passed since I originally posted it, that really wasn't an option. Plus I really felt like I owed Amazon fans and Amazon themselves a sincere apology since they had held up their end of the bargain, which made the bash completely unfair. The only real question I have at this point is why it got sent to my old address in the first place? I know that the account it tied to that address by default since I haven't gone in and changed it in my preferences yet... but I did check (bought as a gift) and filled out the 'Ship to' part with my new address.

So I guess they still did deserve a little credit for the confusion. Just not the criticism about the shipping delay, as it was shipped out almost immediately and arrived before 11 am on Saturday as advertised... just not at the right place! Lol
