"No Means Yes. Yes Means Anal" chant by Yale fraternity. Expel them?

Should the Yale DKE fraternity students be expelled?

I thought it meant cleaning style.

No means yes (wash my dishes) yes means anal (and I mean I want it done very well). You just took it out of context and you're assuming.

until you prove they meant rape and not dishes, you can't expel them.

I hope you are being sarcastic. Also don't ever be an attorney. Yes judge, by anal my clients meant washing dishes.

I love how you try to tie this into your politics though..... lol.

Bush was the best president we've had since Reagan.

Are you even old enough to remember the Reagan years? I bet you don't even vote. By the choice of your words, it sounds like you are a kid who thinks a rape chant is funny.

Washing dishes? Anyway

more assuming.... lol.

I'll go back to JFK

1. Reagan
2. W. Bush
3. Clinton
4. H.W. Bush - only lost 2nd election due to Ross Perot splitting the R-vote.
5. Nixon - yes, remember, he did open relations with China and get us out of Vietnam
6. JFK - just because he took two bullets to the head, doesn't make him a great president. But he did overt a world wide crisis.
7. Ford - transitional president, but held things together which is all you can ask of a president who was never elected and following a national crisis
8. Obama
9. LBJ - protecting self interests in Asia
10. Carter - good Christian man with good intentions.... but not a good president.

this isn't a country of guilty until proven innocent. PROVE that they meant rape and not dishes....

in that video, I didn't hear any conclusive evidence they meant either rape or dishes....

I bet you also thought the Duke Lacrosse players should have been expelled too at one point, huh.

I also bet this has more to do with this being Bush's frat more than anything.

you failed to mention the other 4 Presidents who were members..... Hayes, Ford, and both Roosevelts....... as well as many other famous people... including Dick Clark.... I guess that says enough to you as well?

this is exactly how these people develop their trains of thought..... a fraternity chants something they believe advocates rape....... then they find former members of the fraternity to associate it with....... next week Obama will be telling us the reason nobody can find a job is because Bush was busy raping women

as for the chanting...... while I agree its very insensitive..... I also believe they didnt do anything to warrant expulsion.... the PC police havent completely outlawed free speech yet

Unless things have changed at Yale they don't have a Fraternity council to oversee the antics of the Frat's. So I think a better solution would be for the President of Yale to look at their antics and to consider placing the Fraternity on probation. If the Frat is already on probation for previous antics then maybe now is the time to consider pulling their charter.

Why are we assuming any meaning at all in what a fraternity is saying?

EXACTLY

You cant just expell them all can you.
Not everyone was involved.
Or were they.
(I'm noob to US college system BTW, I dont know how fraternities work)

yeah, even if it can be proven it meant rape and not dishes.... now prove I was one that was saying it. You can't expell me from University because someone else in my frat did something stupid.

now, I suppose they can introduce sanctions against the frat as a whole.... but unless there is more proof or video than that cellphone video in the dark, again, the burden of proof is on the university to actually prove it was the frat in question.

me thinks it's liberals who are so worked up at anything George W. Bush, they don't care about innocent until proven guilty or constitutional rights.

I find it hilarious, that 2 years after W. has left office, people still blow their loads with enragement over the man. I can't wait until History Channel pays homage to him when he eventually passes. Liberals will cry all over again.

First of all. You are trying to say the chant meant washing dishes. Get a life

Secondly, I mentioned both Bush presidents were members of the Fraternity. DID I SAY ANYTHING ABOUT INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY? How did you even connect my factual statement about both Bush Presidents being members to innocent until proven guilty. How? Where is the connection to that?

Also, you have a freaking video that shows people in, and I'm sure there were witnesses. You need more proof than that?

You know, your problem is that you think this is funny. You think a chant about rape is funny. I bet if you were a female, or a male who had been raped and sexually taken advantage of then you wouldn't think it is so funny.

Rape on college campuses is a reality, and even more so amongst fraternities that are known for drinking and partying. If you are one of these frats, and then you go chanting about No Means Yes, that is a problem.

It isn't funny, nor should you try to bring in some stupid angle about washing dishes. IT WAS NOT ABOUT WASHING DISHES, you know that, I know that, and so does everyone else. So drop the washing dishes argument, it makes you look more childish than your bwahahahaha laughter.

no I'm not, I'm suggesting innocent until proven guilty. you're the one trying to expell people. That puts the onus on you to prove what they meant. Just because you assume you know isn't compelling evidence to those who believe in free speech and constitutional rights....

They did not chant "go rape Jennifer tonight"

They excercised their constitutional right to disagree with current rape laws....

you are more hellbent on the fact that it was Bush's frat than actually worrying about constitutional rights to freedom of speech. I don't have to agree with it, but I do support their right to say it.

the fact you neglected to include both Roosevelts is the point most took exception with. Pretty convenient you try link ONLY the people you DON'T like, and not EVERYONE who's ever been in it.

Also, you have a freaking video that shows people in, and I'm sure there were witnesses. You need more proof than that?

Your "proof" is a black screen with people chanting. No faces, no "proof" that it wasn't Obama's old frat chanting it. You have HEARSAY, that's it. Someone SAYING it's the frat in question. You suggest we expell everyone in the frat involved but you have no way to actually PROVE who was involved.

no, I think a chant about dishes is funny. you haven't proven to me with your crappy resolution video anything except the exact words said. no context, no faces, no names, just the actual words. I don't support their meaning, but I support their Constitutional right to say it.

Rape on college campuses is a reality, and even more so amongst fraternities that are known for drinking and partying.

I agree. But rape laws are messed up. When the stripper at Duke can ruin the lives of the Lacrosse players just by saying she was raped, when it came out later that they didn't... it's a problem. Do you realize, the COACH of the Lacrosse team had to quit his coaching job at a D-1 school because of it and he wasn't even there. Rape laws are messed up and protesting them is ok. That doesn't mean rape is ok, it just means rape laws are messed up.

Kobe Bryant - had sex with a girl and she changed her mind /= rape. She used it to simply extort money from a well-known, wealthy athlete.

Ben Rothlesburger - had sex with a girl and then she realizes there is a payday involved and uses a rape accusation as an extortion for money.

If you are one of these frats, and then you go chanting about No Means Yes, that is a problem.
are frats only allowed to be politically active in popular causes. They are allowed to protest just as much as you are.

It isn't funny, nor should you try to bring in some stupid angle about washing dishes. IT WAS NOT ABOUT WASHING DISHES, you know that, I know that, and so does everyone else. So drop the washing dishes argument, it makes you look more childish than your bwahahahaha laughter.

why should I drop it, you can't PROVE they weren't talking about it.

That's just another angle, but the constitutional issue is the larger issue here. But even if you can get past that, proving guilt is still on YOU.

All within the guidelines.... that's fine. Noone is getting suspended or expelled. Good for them.

I just ran your washing dishes angle by some attorneys, one of whom is my sister. Your point is that I need to prove "No means Yes, Yes means anal" was about sex and not washing dishes. They said your argument fails.

The law takes into account "reasonable person." This is how it was explained to me. If the majority of "reasonable persons" hear the chant "No Means Yes. Yes means anal" and these "reasonable persons" equate that with Sex/rape, then the "reasonable person" view will stand according to law. Meaning that just because you, or some shady lawyer want to put a dish washing spin on the chant, that argument will fail the "reasonable person" theory.

Since most reasonable people are equating the chant with sex, and since DKE hasn't come out to say otherwise, then your dish washing spin is garbage. Basically you aren't a reasonable person and the law doesn't care how someone who is not reasonable interprets words.

They're damn close to losing their charter, tho.

"The national parent organization of the fraternity has suspended all pledge activities, and its president will meet with Dean Miller this weekend and with individual members..."

And I'd hazard a guess that at least a few DKEs will be former DKEs before its all over.

So yeah, good for them. And by "them" I mean the national DKE organization.

ok, so does that explain away them using that chant as a way to protest current rape laws?

I don't even know what you are talking about. Where do you come up with these strange convoluted ideas. The chant was not in protest of current rape laws. Further proof you are not a reasonable person.

You really make no sense, it is not even worth responding to you anymore, from now on you can have the last word. I'm no longer going to respond to your strange theories about washing dishes and protesting rape laws.
