Since the HTC Desire HD has been released/is about to be i thought it would be quite a good idea to create a thread solely for reviews of the HTC Desire HD from all the various media sources out there - bloggers, mobile/tech websites, newspapers, tv, etc. You get the idea.

Thought i'd start it off with a review from CNET UK. They were very, very positive! :)

HTC Desire HD Review | Mobile Phones | CNET UK

If you come across any legitimate and valid reviews, please feel free to post them in this thread.

Want to get this phone. Can anyone please provide speaker (music quality), SLCD and battey ( if used morethan 1 week) review. I have seen from some of the reviews that speaker output quality is not good. Is it true?.

And from above review they mentioned 'wahsed out colors'. what does it mean?.

Not many have used it for over a week yet considering it hasn't really been out a full week yet!.

Music quality is tinny IMO without headphones in which then SRS and Dolby come into effect.

Settings -> SD Card and phone storage -> scroll down and see Internal phone storage...how much you see there pls

the original desire has only 140 MB for app installation which was pathetic

TechRadar have posted their review:

HTC Desire HD review from TechRadar UK's expert reviews of Mobile phones

HTC Desire HD - 4.5 out of 5
HTC Desire - 5 out of 5

Make of that what you will! Very, very good review. Very detailed and thorough and fair and the review is mostly positive apart from one main problem - the battery!

For
Super-slick UI
Great browsing experience
Dolby Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound
Decent e-book reader
Very easy to connect contacts

Against
Poor battery life
No OLED screen
Suspect build quality
Video player needs overhauling
HTCSense.com connectivity still has bugs

Gr8 review Spencer...

U said that d fone rests on the camera... jus needed to know if dat wd scratch d cam lens or is it sme kinda tuff glass or smthn to prevent scratches????

Thank you :)

Looking at the lens closely, there is a ring around it, so to be very specific.

The phone rests on the camera. It doesn't rest on the lens, it rests on the ring around it which is about 1mm maybe 1.5mm which would appear to prevent it from scratches.

Hope this helps.

When I got it, 1.2gb was free...Now its 1gb :)

if i take out the SD card from my Desire and slap it into the HD, can I restore my apps and setting from it (using MyBackupPro)?

Don't know, never used MyBackupPro and don't know how it works. Sorry

How come the 8GB card only has 5.9GB left - what's on it?

Manuals, Music, Photos, Ebooks, HTC Sync software, just name some from the top of my head :)..If you want a full list, I can put it up on request.

I just read from the techradar's review and they mentioned that the videos arent shown as thumbnails but rather grey thumbnails which makes it hard to differentiate which is which. They also mentioned that the videos only appear in 4:3 ratio even though they are widescreen. Is this all true? im sending this using a very old phone so i cant post the link but techradar just posted the review. You can easily find it via google search. Please help, thanks for any help.

OK heres my 2 cents - coming straight from the Desire....

The HD is only slightly bigger but the screen size enables me to use any of the keyboards with ease compared to the D due to my fat flat ended fingers! Awesome - I can send a message that people can understand lol.

The DHD is quicker. Easily quicker. Although it seems to take a bit longer to load up pics when attaching to an email.

I backed up my Desire, took the card out and put it into the HD. I downloaded MyBackUp as this is what I used on the D. Restored all of my settings, bookmarks and apps. Reinstalled all of the apps from my D to HD. Took 2/3 minutes. Unfortunately is didnt ask to do them all in one go so annoyingly had to tap each one to start the install. Not a major problem tho.

I then copied the apps from the card that came with the HD to the one I had all of my music and settings on. First I deleted the D ones - such as userquide pdfs and data settings etc.

Phone works very well. Is it worth

interesting. T3 reviews are not always the most accurate and is reflected here.

As for the battery, its heading the way my desire did when I first bought it. Currently heading for a recharge at 3pm - 8.5 hrs after disconnecting from the mains. As said before, these batteries improve lots over a few charges. My desire went to a day and a half from the same point I am at now. T3 should also know better than to state this where they know (or should) it will improve over the long term.

I had a different reason to buying the HD - easier to type quickly and more accurately. generally the whole package is better so to me is worth the extra
