Hi everyone outthere, just wanted to introduce myself, I am a new and very happy owner of an Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i. I just bought it a week ago, exactly a week ago !

I am very familiar with SE, as most of my past phones where SE. I've become quite a fan of SE as all my past phones were absolutely amazing (w800, w710, T250).

SO..as this is my very first smartphone, I'm a new Android user, which is actually kinda weird, as i have had to learn a lot !, like donwloading from the market and stuff. Coz usually i downloaded directly to my pc and then the phone. Still learning, as it seems there are a lot of things to learn.

About the phone itself, just have to say that b4 buying it, i did a lot of research through the web. It was basecally between Xperia and Iphone, that until i went to an Ishop, and saw the price of the iphone:eek:. Anyways, i knew that there were many options besides iphone like samsung and htc, but i just love SE phones, as they are quite unique, the models and the software, are very good looking comparing to other phones.

I saw really bad and mean reviews about the phone(specailly about battery life and audio , people reviews most of 'em. But in general good opinions (phone and gsm arena)..so i made my choice.....

What an amazing phone, probably i would be sorprised aswell with other smartphones as this is my first one, but this one is just great, don't regret it and not dissapointed at all.

Battery life
.... have to be honest, was expecting the worst, but....the first time lasted 3 complete days, using it quite often viewing videos and one SEUS. Now i've been checking out, and it consumes aprox 10% per day !!!, which is amazing, way better than what i was expecting. Then again, with all my past phones, i saw people complaining about the same, but all of them lasted about a week!!!

Audio.... a little bit low on calls, but it is fine, not big deal.

Everythig else........the best phone ever, quite expensive phone, but worth it, i am hoping to keep this phone for a LOT of years to come so it was a very good choice :D

Now expecting the famous update, and be even more happy !!!

Hope to be an active user in this forum as i found it quite helpful and friendly, nice to meet you all :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad you are enjoying your new phone.

Out of interest, can you confirm where you are located and what carrier you are on and maybe what build numbers you have. Menu>Settings>About Phone and then scroll to the bottom.

Look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Hi, thank you for your comments !

I'm in Bolivia (South America) Carrier: VIVA(local carrier)
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-rel
Build: R2BA026

One question, What does this build number say about my phone?

That tells us that you have the latest firmware. I was just wondering as some people seem to have terrible battery problems and its always good to hear about a positive experience, therefore a build number just gives a better level for comparison with other phones.

As you said in your first post, there is a lot of negative things said about the phone and I think there are probably quite a lot of people out there who are actually happy with their phones and just aren't forum joining type people.

Thank you very much for your explanation. Maybe I'm just lucky with my phones batteries.

Well for me, the first thing i did, after charging the phone for the very first time (all night long, aprox. 10 hours), was updating the software.

I've donwloaded 26 apps in about an hour with Wifi and with the screen on all that time(change it in order to download faster because i had it with 15 sec ), and the battery dropped from 87 to 65, which i think is good, as i tried all the apps and with the screen on all the time i thought the phone would die instantly, but then again i had a pleasant surprise, that was on sat by the way :)

Sounds like fairly average to good usage - welcome to the X10

We all get a bit 'app happy' in the first few days. It's just got to be done when you get your new toy. If your battery usage can survive that then you are doing OK in my book.

When you get bored with the standard things that the phone can do, then have a look at the Show Me Your Home Screens thread or even MrWomble's thread on what he did to his phone in the last week!

Hi & welcome to the X10 world FMS... I have had mine about a month now and i'm happy with it. There are things that could be better but when you look around at some of the others the x10 is a good unit.

Watch out with those apps.. some can have side effects.

Your battery life seems similar to mine... on standby with no use it uses around 8% a day which is good for the hardware it is running. Even with a day out using wifi, 3g internet, gps, camera, movies, couple of calls and then playing games on it on the trip home it was only down to just below half.

I find that if the 3g internet, wifi or gps is left on then the battery drops faster. Best to turn them off when not using... seems like a lot dont?

All the best with your new toy!!
