Anyone else come from the Hero to HD? What differences will i notice? (apart from speed)

What deal did they offer you?

If they are all like this from three, then it is goodbye to vodafone for good. Had enough of been messed around by this completely incompetent company.

Can you confirm if the firmware code is 405 on the three DHD please.

If you mean Software number then yes. It's 1.32.405.3 (Three) Did an OTA update when i got the phone. Had no problems with it. Except that the internet from the mobile network isn't working. The guy over the phone had no idea too and he never called back. Gonna have to make another call tomorrow or something. Overall I'm happy with this phone

Can you let us know if the desire HD is locked to three, and if it has any three branding and if the firmware code is 405 for a generic device. Rumours have it HTC have refused to allow any network branding on their new devices.

Considering I've said this 3 times..It's unbranded and sim free. Please search the forums as your question may have been answered

Yes, would be interesting to know. Three told me they're network locked.

See above

Can confirm its unlocked and not branded from Three. I just put my o2 sim my DHD and it worked like a dream. Was able to send a text message off to test. Works fine.

Yip, and also I understand that HTC Sense obtains the network settings (like MMS, SMS and Mobile browsing point) from the sim card.

Thanks - how interesting.... People at 3 lying again.

Typical sales folk eh

I dont remember asking you if yours was unlocked, so to say you have told me three times and a link to the search feature, is not really relevant in this case. I am after information specific to the three network not any other, and as yours was direct from htc, then I would expect it to be unlocked and generic anyway.

This question was directed at the poster who has just ordered one from three, and the poster who has one from three.

I maybe a new user on this forum, but have used forums on many other sites, and I am fully aware as to how the search feature works, as the DHD is only just becoming available, then there is very little information on what locks and branding different networks are putting on the phones.

So although you may think by putting this reply up you are in some way helping, in fact you are doing the complete opposite.

If you can provide links to other posts regarding the network locks and branding specific to the 3 network and the DHD phone, which are not in this post, then I apologise in advance, but as I too have done a search, the only link I can find is to this thread, which until I asked the question you found so upseting you needed to give this reply, know one had given the specific software code yet.

Jon bought his from Three and he confirmed it and I also confirmed it by going into 3 different 3 shops

As I said, I never stated it was directed, All I was saying is that i've said its been mentioned and Jon confirmed it.

As above

Without me "flaming" anyone on here, and theres no wrong answer to this, had you searched, the answer was already there :)

Quick search

Confirms Sim Free

Again confirming Sim free

Also if you compare the Desires boot up to the Desire HD's boot up, you will notice there is no 3 startup. See demo in store :)

It's not that I find it upsetting, its that sometimes the answer is already there and it gets duplicated loads of times which then makes discussion kind of...well...pointless.

You're a bit abrupt in some of these replies Spencer, a little annoying tbh.

Yes, some people have received unlocked handsets from 3, yes some 3 shops have said it is unlocked. Others have not. It's entirely possible there's early unlocked stock in the channel and there is or will be locked stock as well (T-M typically do this).

Please stop jumping on people's comments as if you're the only source of information in the world. You're not a moderator.

Just to add a little more colour to the guy asking for the firmware code and the talk of splash screens.

I have an early Galaxy S from T-Mobile. It is not network locked and does not have the (now common) T-M splash screen on boot. The firmware code however is an early T-Mobile specific one meaning that although not obviously branded it is tied to T-M's schedule for updates and will most likely get a more heavily branded ROM at some point.

It is entirely possible that the current three stock is done in a similar way, hence entirely reasonable to ask questions.

It's not "jumping" on peoples comments. It's the small fact that the same questions keep popping up when there is already great masses of threads about it.

I don't want to start a huge fight about this but in your opinion the questions have been answered elsewhere.

In this case I've already explained why the question remains valid and was worth asking. Dismissing other people's comments with 'see above' and 'answered elsewhere' is not helpful.

As I say, you are not here to moderate this forum, do not assume that you are always right and everyone will get on just fine.
