i found an app called balance , so you can see whats in your bank , now it works great for barclays bank , but i do wonder, if the data that it needs for it to access your acount, could be sent to the developer or anyone else for that matter ,

It's entirely possible, if the app is written to do so. I don't think it's common, but there have been apps discovered as passing along data when they had no legitimate business to do so.

What kind of a reputation does this app have? I couldn't find it. Can you get an app proprietary to the bank you use? I'd be more inclined to go with that if it's available.

its in the market , its just called balance its by ian warwick , its icon is a brown wallet .
i typed in barclays bank and this was on the page , so thought i would give it a go , and it works

I'm very hesitant to make bank transactions via a phone app, so would suggest you only use Bank-authorized apps for making transactions.

However, if you simply want to view/monitor all your accounts in one place, you might want to try MINT.COM app. The Mint.com app just views/monitors and alerts you to activities in all your linked accounts. It can't do any transactions. I find this useful and gives me peace of mind.

Do you need to make actual transactions or just check balances and such? BookLover's suggestion of Mint.com is a good one if that's all you need. Pageonce has a good one too.

For me, the www.mint.com website seems very legit, plus I like the fact they specifically say they can VIEW ONLY data from all your linked accounts and CANNOT transact.

Is Balance backed up by a company on the www? If yes, you should visit their site and compare its offerings to that of Mint.com and you can decide for yourself.

I couldn't say they're more secure than Balance, as I don't know it, but both Mint and Pageonce are well-established with good reputations, especially Mint.

If you're worried about security, i've just finished off a mobile banking app that allows you to check your balances and statements.

All information is kept between your device and barclays.co.uk. I know you're taking my word for it but i invite people to use network tools to check.

Anyway, if you decide to get it, let me know what you think, there's more in the pipeline since this is the first release.

Oh, of course, the app is called Blue Money.
