Accessories Earphones with playback controls?

Does anyone know if there are any earphones that have inline music playback controls that works for the Vibrant. I'm talking about volume, previous, play/pause, and forward. I tried using the apple earbuds that came with my ipod touch but the buttons aren't compatible with the Vibrant.

Is there anything in the market that is compatible with this phone?

Sure do. I'm a fan of Motorola, and their S9 as well as S9-HD (as well as their MotoRokr, but those aren't nearly as good sounding) have play, pause, volume up/down, next track, previous track, as well as a button to turn on/off the equalizer preset that makes it sound better. I have the S9-HD's now, and they sound really fantastic (deep bass, good mids and highs, etc). Got them on Amazon for about $60.

FYI: The S10-HD's just came out. Might want to pick those up instead, as they have a slightly altered design but more importantly the S9-HD's had a lot of reports of sweat shorting out the volume buttons, even though it's "sweat resistant". The S10-HD's I believe say "sweat proof". They're both rated for exercise, and I haven't had an issue with my S9-HD's, though I always have a workout towel with me at the gym to wipe up my sweat.

Another FYI: MAKE SURE to not buy a fake! Fake's sound crappy, like you're in a tunnel with no bass. There are a lot of fakes out there, and one of the main indications it's not authentic is if it comes in an actual box that flips open. The S9-HD's never came in a box, always in a cardboard packaging with clear plastic on the front displaying the product. The fake's come loose packed with a flimsy manual, some extra earbuds, and the top of the box flips up. No clear plastic. Also I hear the LED lights on the back are different for fakes. In any case, buy from a reputable seller. The first set I bought was off Craigslist, and when I brought them home I noticed they sounded horrible and it was cheaply made. Found out it was fake, and luckily enough the guy refunded my money (He was an officer in the navy, bought a whole set of them for his unit to work out with, had some extras). Watch some youtube videos on the fakes to make sure you're getting an authentic one.

then how come i can use the samsung ones and with the button on them answer the phone or mute my music???

Oh yeah. Forgot about that. My bad.

But that's about the most you can do with it. There are headphones with volume control, but those don't actually change the volume output from your phone. Instead it uses a variable resistor to control the voltage.

But if you are talking about play, stop, pause, rewind, forward, that's impossible. Certain sony walkman players in the past has headphones that can do this, but those are special sony headphones made for the walkman, and I don't think it's done through the 3.5 mm jack.

There are bluetooth headphones that uses normal 3.5mm jack. Your hang the transceiver on your neck, and plug in a normal pair of headphones. E.g. the Jabra Dog Tag.

edit: Apparently I am wrong again. Someone wrote on XDA that they can go skip to the next song by pressing the pause button twice.

Not really,
3.5 Jack is not Output only.
As the Sound has to make a full circuit (like any electrical device) - Most of the power goes to the speaker, but you have a re-route system build into the music controls...

RIM Blackberry Has it & Apple iPhone/iPods have them [The Mic with Audio Controls and Music Controls]

Blackberry has pure seperate controls, while iPhone/iPod have multiple purpose button control (pressing double changes to next tracks or triple changes to previous tracks etc)

iPhone/iPod:

Now I have the S9-HD and i have the Original Moto Bluetooth:
motorola_ht820.jpg

HT820 - It makes me look like i have ELF Ears from the front (im a World of Warcraft Fan, but i dont want to LOOK like a character from it)

motorola-s9.jpg

S9 Series (RED and Black is S9 and Black and Black is S9-HD)
Comfortable and Lightweight... Sound quality is much better than the HT820)

Downside to Bluetooth > Battery Dies out.
The HT820 Has a Bonus: It has 3.5 Audio Jack > Once your Battery Drains on Bluetooth you can plug it in Directly :) having it powered from the device itself...

I am looking for Earbud onces now... Bluetooth is nice and techy > but its not practical...
Anyone knows any? =/ i'm having hardtime looking for it...
Gahh.

what about non bluetooth ones? i like to listen while riding my motorcycle and those wont fit under my helmet lol

How do you know they won't fit? When I was first sold some fake S9-HD's from a guy on craigslist, he used them while riding his motorcycle (I saw as he pulled up and drove away) and they fit fine.
