Well my Droid X is screwing up on me (Here's the list of problems I'm running into)
-Battery only charges to 50%

-Freezing, freezing, and more FREEZING

-Sluggish even after uninstalling, rebooting, and other tricks

-It randomly reboots itself (like wtf?)

-Flash does not work even after multiple reinstalls

So I'm going to trade it in tomorrow for a new Droid, which one should I get?
I really want the R2D2 Droid cause I want a keyboard plus it looks cool :D but does it have a locked bootloader? Then I want the Droid Inc. because of the OLED screen and it looks really sexy. Give me your thoughts on both please! :)

D2 does has a locked bootloader but is still able to be rooted, load custom roms and themes. the only thing you cant do is probably overclock, but who needs to with a 1ghz processor?

(IN MY OPINION)
i picked d2 because of the unique, one of a kind keyboard it has. i type so fast on it!!! (like the guy in the droid2 commercial! lol)

also the r2d2 design is pretty cool (though toy-ish. but... eh...)

i also dont like sense on the incredible, even though i would be using launcherpro, i would still have to deal with sense ui's features. i prefer and like blur's features much more.

and all together, i just dont like htc and their cheaply built devices. Motorola is WAY better at build quality.

I'm going to have to agree here. I went through 3 HTC Droid Eris' before I received my D2. I liked my Eris, but there was always something wrong. Sense was alright for a while, but I eventually just used LauncherPro. Am currently using it on the D2, too. :p

Go with the R2D2. HTC has build quality issues, and often they won't support them--their BBB rating is an F. You can't trust an HTC product to work as desired, and you can't trust HTC to fix it when it doesn't.

Going with the Incredible is just asking for a headache. HTC products aren't in the same league as Motorola products...and just barely in the same game.

I really like my D2 and my girlfriend's Incredible.

The Incredible allows you to install files on the SDcard, internal storage or phone storage. It also has its own software to sync with outlook (not exchange).

The problem for me with the Incredible is that the home screen doesn't do landscape. Of course neither does the D2 without a separate launcher, but on the Incredible if you use a different launcher you can't use the sense widgets.

First post here I think, thought I could chime in on this one.

I bought the Dinc back in July, around the 30 day warrantee i switched over to the D2

Theres obviously pros and cons to both.

Dinc Pros
I felt it was a little quicker, my D2 now lags more from time to time compared to it, and I enjoyed Sense more, however the sense/blur thing doesnt matter too much to me as i ended up using Launcher Pro on both devices anyways.

I had the Amoled version the screen really was beautiful.

I liked the camera more on the INC however i dont use my phone for photos too often so another nonissue for me.

No locked bootloader

Cons

The size, I know its oppinion and all, but I hate using cases and due to this I babied my Dinc, I was always afraid it would break because it was so light and thin. I have no problem tossing my D2 around, I'm pretty hard on my phones and this D2 is holding up good to my abuse.

Touch screen only, I came from an LG dare so i didnt think this would be a problem. However now that i type for more than just short texts I really love a physical keyboard.

The screen however beautiful it was, was a pain sometimes in sunlight, the lcd's now might be better though

Battery life was god awful, even with a 1750 extended battery.

In my experience phone calls were god awful. comparable to dare i say it, an iPhone

D2

Significantly better battery life, I charge the phone once a day in the morning, and to this day regardless of how heavy the usage is have never needed to worry about my battery dying. I was charging the Dinc multiple times a day. When youre constantly out traveling and doing stuff it can be a hassle carrying 2 batteries and charging both all the time etc.

Build quality as stated is fantastic, I dont use cases, i toss this thing around, going on month 3 now and minus a couple screen scratches and little mark here and there from dropping it, its still like new quality. I expect it to make it over a year without breaking. Which to me is incredible considering i tend to break my phones every 6 or so months.

Call reception on this phone is better than any other cell phone ive ever owned.

Physical keyboard is so important to me to and i never thought it would be. I was wary that it wouldnt be an effecient keyboard, and have never used one on a cellphone before. After a day I fell in love with it, didnt take anytime at all to get used to.

Screen works better outside in sunlight.

Keyboard is cool if you play games to, i hated having controls on the screen. for web browsing and everything else its fantastic too, you just lose too much visibility while typing and using the screen youre supposed to be VIEWING.

Overall if youre looking for more of a toy, id go with the Dinc
If you use your phone to be productive, get work done etc id go with the D2

hope this helps, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

the droid 2 can go in home screen landscape on its stock launcher.

I don't remember what I read in the past about the Incredible - but I remember there were some wonky issues and the D1 still benched faster (by a decent amount) OC'd to the same 1ghz as the HTC.

This is a D2 subforum, hence the poll.
Hop over to the Incredible forum with the same poll, might be an interesting social experiment!

I've had the Incredible since July and I've had the Droid 2 for about 3 weeks and I would recommend the Incredible. IMO it's a better phone. I'll get into details later.

EDIT - Here's why I prefer the Incredible over the D2.
- I like Sense UI more than MotoBlur. Leap feature, smoother transitions between home screens, and better widgets. Though I use LauncherPro on both but stock for stock, advantage goes to the Incredible.
- Camera is A LOT better on the Incredible, though 720p video recording is pretty bad.
- Lighter and slimmer due to no physical keyboard. In all honesty, the D2's physical keyboard isn't that great. The buttons are stiff and sometimes feels like they don't register but they did so I end up adding extra letters into words.
- AMOLED screen!
- I like the styling on the battery cover. The phone is very sleek looking.
- Volume and power button are better placed and bigger.
- I like having the "Home" touch button all the way to the left.
- The optical trackpad.
- On-screen keyboard is superb!

Here are a few reasons why I like the D2 more.
- Slightly better battery life.
- Better call quality and better signal coverage.
- Even though I stated that the keyboard wasn't that good, It's still really useful.
- Better benchmark numbers. Yeah, I care. :) Plus the better GPU helps make Live Wallpapers smoother.
- A camera shutter button. I prefer that over the Incredible's optical button.
- Slightly better build quality.

Overall the D2 is a great phone but I still like the Incredible more and would highly recommend it(I've gotten 6 people to switch over to it so far).

I have both phones also and prefer the Incredible.

SenseUI is more polished than Blur.
Inc's AMOLED screen is simply amazing. When viewing identical images on both phones side-by-side, there simply isn't any question which one is better.
Camera quality is much better on the Inc.
I notice more lag on the D2 with everyday use, simply sliding the unlock on the D2 is jumpy, the Inc is butter smooth.

I have The Incredible, Droid 2(I just traded my R2D2 for a regular D2) and a Droid X. While I tend to use my X most, as it is the newest, my Incredible is by far the best device of the three. To me, Sense is a little more "in your face" compared to Blur. I'm not saying that's a bad thing as I actually think Sense is awesome, I just think it is more noticeable than Blur is on Moto's. That said, as far as performance goes, you cannot even tell Sense is on the phone. The Incredible is extremely "snappy" and responsive out of the box. I cannot say the same for Moto devices.

Not sure what your intentions are, but I need my devices to be rooted, and have the option to install custom ROMs. While I have been successful in that with all three devices, it is much easier to achieve on the Incredible. And much easier to use once you have it(hacking/romming).

The Incredible takes great great pictures. Megapixel shmegapixle. It don't really mean much unless you plan on blowing your pictures up. Even tho the DInc has an 8MP and the D2 has a 5, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference on a computer if the hardware and software was exactly the same. However, in my experience, the pictures on my Incredible come out looking nicer in a more consistent manner.

I do not hate my D2, but I will say that I am glad I have it as a "complimentary device". It is a cool phone, and by now means bad at all, but if I could only have 1 phone of these three, I wouldn't pick the D2. Now maybe I could talk myself into the X, but I'm pretty sure it would be the Incredible because I know it will run better than great and I will have more possibilites as well.

Also, Motorola is dumb putting all these stupid locks and restrictions on their devices. I kinda like HTC better as far as "user friendly" goes. So yea, I definitely think the Incredible blows the D2 out of the water as far as performance. IMO, if you take the carrier and OEM into account along with hardware, software, and capabilities, the Incredible is the best device on the market. I don't think you would be disappointed. Either way, fun can be had with either, so I hope you are happy with whatever you decide!

Lastly, if a hardware keyboard is important to you, lemme say this: I used to only like phone with physical keyboards. Then I got the Incredible(pretty much the first touch screen board I used over an extended period of time) and I was pretty surprise at how easily it was. Previously I had used my Mom's BB Storm, and hated touch keyboards lol. But after using the Incredible for a short while, I saw that they could be really good too! When I got my D2 I admit it made me realize that I had missed a physical keyboard, but during my time away I didn't even notice it. Now I am fine with either, it's not a deal breaker. OK I have gone on too long. Back to hacking meh phonez.

*EDIT* I just wanted to say again, the Incredible is extremely responsive! With CyanogenMod, SkyRaider, or stock, it didn't matter. It is a really fast phone. I love it :) But really....it is. Fastest I've used.

Your phone's under warranty. I've never heard of those issues before. You may want to swap it out for a new one, unless you want that keyboard.

The Overclocked DX is amazing. I'm running 14500. :D

If you do want the keyboard, I'd go with R2, simply because ... I love him. :D

In fact, I was using the R2 boot animation. :)

The dinc is an amazing phone too. Any of the top of the line androids are worth your look-see.

Well, it depends. I use Facebook and Twitter alot. Incredible hands down is much better for social networking(stock apps). Battery life goes to the Incredible.
After using the Incredible for about 4 months and D2 for a few days now, I would say the Incredible is a much better device. I feel like I had more at my finger tips with the Incredible.

On the Incredible if I did the bump charge trick I could leave the phone unplugged for 24 hours. My new D2 I dont even get 12 hours.
Same amount of use on both.
Maybe someone has a trick they can teach me to get better battery life?

ok both phone are powerful and both phones are fast. It'll come down to what you like to interact with more (which you probably won't find out till you buy one of the phones); ex: hard keyboard, UI, etc. I love my D2. I rooted it and slapped the R2D2 theme on it. the D2 is very fast but motoblur does suck at times. There are some up sides to motoblur though but for every good app or widget they give there are three that are worthless. This can be fixed via rooting and then freezing apps or deleting them, i would suggest freezing. Like i said though the phone is very fast and makes up for the extra crapps with its processor. I would say R2D2. Go Star Wars!

if you are a star wars fan go with the r2d2. hands down, i dont care. I have the incredible, and played with the r2d2 for awhile in store today. I personally enjoy the sense UI. the UI on the d2 i didn't care for. Mainly the widgets are better on the Dinc stock but you can always get new ones off the market. If you need a keyboard thats a plus for the d2 and it comes with swype pre-installed so the on screen keyboard is great as well.
Honestly the lock screen on the r2d2 got me, i mean have you seen it, its awesome.
