HD Mp4 files on EVO?

Is there a video player that can play 720p MP4 files with AC35.1 sound?

If not, I see folks remark that most need aac sound, does the aac track have to be the first audio track?

I am trying to find a format that satisfies both a Tivo and the EVO, in HD for connection to a display panel.

Any suggestions?

Currently android is lacking in video playback. I would recommend to try yxplayer although it is a paid application it currently is the best player out on the market. Be pre warned though you may have jittery video playback, and other issues.

If its MP4 it should support it. If it isn't playing, there is probably a sound or video codec issue.

I agree, how do you add a codec to an android device?

The files are properly encoded, streamable and play fine on Tivo, MPC and QT, just not on the EVO.

I did download Doubletwist for a try. it reencoded the video to a very low resolution with aac sound and sent it to EVO. It did play but output to a panel would be fruitless at that low a resolution (480x320) or something like that. DT did not correctly recognize the EVO so that may be the problem there, showed it as a generic android device. EVO is capable of 720p video, but under what specs?

the video is in h.264 same requiremnt for Tivo. It is also streamable which seems to matter to many hardware players including tivo and others.

I remuxed a file with the same video and AAC sound and it still did not play.

Used DoubleTwist and it reencoded to a very low resolution that played but is useless for the EVO.

Is there anywhere that the specs for video files for the EVO are published? Or even for the market players? None seem to include specs for what they can do. Don't mind paying for a working app but will not pay until I see it work or at least has a specific claim to work for my needs so I can ask for a refund if it does not.

Well, another thing was that the files were in a 16:9 resolution, but considering the Evo, that shouldn't be a problem, right?

So although it has jittery video and "other issues", yxplayer is the best player available? Something is wrong here.

HTC and Sprint advertise the EVO as capable of 720p video playback. They need to publish the specs to do so so that proper files can be built.

The included player can play the camcorder generated 720p vids so there is hope once we have the specs.

So the camcorder can take 720p videos and play them back? Why not find what codecs the phone camcorder uses on the videos that it produces and then encode the videos exactly the same way? I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work.

Never heard of either one but I know it can play back AAC stereo audio.

This seems to be a really odd codec and frame rate. I don't even know of an encoder for 3GPP.

I have downloaded many 720p videos and they all have less then 29 fps. Not sure of the bit rate but when I play the videos, they just show a all black screen but all the sound plays. I can play my 720p videos that I record just fine. Even out to my HD tv. But I can't get the darn thing to play anything sideloaded or downloaded at 720p on my phone or out to my tv.

I'm not sure what I need to do in order to get my Evo to play 720p videos. I'm assuming that I need to edit the videos with some type of software. Idk. I love my Evo but I'm getting turned off by this issue.

I can play lower quality downloaded youtube videos just fine. And even output to my tv just fine. But I'm still missing the full HD experience for tv and on the evo's screen. Somebody help! Please!

I use meGUI as I am familur with it. Others have reported success with Handbrake as well. Handbrake does not encode AC3 so could not use it for Tivo. meGUI does most all my video manipulation needs but has a bit of a learning curve. Not too bad.
