(auto task killing can make your phone run slower look at death2all110's post. It can work well if you don't kill all your essential running tasks. task killers can be helpful if a user wants to manual end a locked up programs such as emulator. this can be easily be speed up by excluding system essential tasks from your end all button)

sync feeds - voice search - voice search - Google talk storage - weather & toggle widget - setcpu - superuser - adw.launcher - clock - calendar - beautiful widgets - advanced task manager -

i have 50mb free mem most of the time. (more than enough)
This allows me to keep all essential programs within memory and to free up my locked up programs easily, just remember to exclude your launcher.

Bty heres my setcpu profile also, it saves battery power (600 max for non overclocked users)

Advanced task killer is not recommended for use on android phones, actually any task killer for that matter. because android closes the tasks that arent used as the phone uses memory. when you kill background tasks they generally will start right back up again making the phone slower.

your right but it is helpful for ending locked programs... especially for some of the emulators. advanced has fearures which can make it be less invasive than other typical task killers.

Also true... but a task killer is nice for stubborn apps which tend to freeze or poorly written programs with memory holes. if you just end every task at once it just causes your memory to thrash due to your phone having to load all of its essential programs. That's why they get a bad reputation.

yeah i basically configure my task killer so heavily that it is like a manual task kill. if you like the custom shortcut im definitely all for it because it is less invasive than my task kill. on the other hand i still like my way of killing the few straggling apps that run in my background sparing my essential apps. this keeps me from draining my battery. i also use a custom shortcut for the led light. it works well for 30 secs and shuts off. that's why i use the flashlight app. by the way is anycut a rooted app? i want to add it to the list

no you don't.... go to the market and download astro. this will allow you to install all of this crap if you download from the internet. you just got to put the apk files on your sd card and allow installation of unknown sources in your phone's settings. you can find most of these apps for free off of torrents or just by google searching.

yeah i dont think opera has themes but it is easy to use in comparison to the default browser plus i think it runs a bit faster (i love the format for my bookmarks its kinda like google chrome). ill add dolphin hd and x2 Launcher Pro... bty instead of hiding my bloatware i deleted it off my phone with titanium backup it frees up some extra room.

rooting a phone is like being an administrator account in windows.... it allows you to install any program on your phone and run it... anyway when you use androot you can always revert back

most power saving apps are good. i save my juice by using a strict profile in setcpu... but to each their own

BTW, I wonder if anti-virus app is really needed in android phones. I am using "antivirus free" and it seems to be always in the background to monitor any apps being downloaded. But if I'm assured that android is secure enough without it, I will get rid of it to free up more memory and also help battery life.

I also have Advanced Task Killer on my Ally. But I never used auto kill feature. I use it only to check running apps in background and manually kill the one I don't want. I saw many opinions that ATK does hurt battery life than saving it and it seems to make sense to me.
I didn't know it's possible to use auto kill with exclude list... Sounds like worth of trying.

just try setcpu... i saw the biggest increase of battery life with that set so your min cpu is around 100mhz and max to 600mhz on demand

idk i just used the universal androot program which lets you root and unroot you phone so its not permanent. then installed setcpu and saved lots of juice. idk bout modren cpus and all but you got an old arm6 cpu in there (an old pda cpu i think around 2002) not a flashy new qualcom snapdragon (ie htc droid incredible.. 8 years later) the arm 6 i believe only runs at 600mhz no faster or slower. so using a 1/6 of it sounds like it will save power. in fact set to the lowest settings i can run my phone for over a week(its also slow as hell but you get the point)... for max power savings without it being dead slow id try max 350mhz- min 100mhz approx.
