Incredible vs Eris comparison

My wife has been happy with her Eris, but it's time for an upgrade. I thought that she'd like the Incredible, but hear about the issues with battery life and phone reception. Are these problems actually an improvement over the Eris? She's had problems with both, but can live with them if they're not worse.

My wife's Eris is fine for 85% of what she uses it for, but there's no comparing it to the Incredible. It's like comparing a PS3 with a PS2. Both play games, but one looks a lot better doing it, and has some extra features you're sure to love.

That said, with the Incredible HD around the corner, it might be worth waiting until the end of next month.

I went from the Eris to Incredible and still have my Eris. I personally like the Eris it's a perfectly good smart phone and can do just about everything the Incredible can as far as everyday use . I found the Eris had worse battery life then my Incredible but I felt the Cell reception was slightly better then the Incredible but both are good.

However the Eris while it can handle single tasks just fine it doesn't have the power even rooted and overclocked running FroYo it still bogs down pretty heavily with more then one app going . The Incredible camera, screen and flash just blow away the Eris.

You're wife will be happy with an Incredible if she liked her Eris.

I didn't have problems with either on my Eris or my Incredible. There is no comparison between the two phones. The HTC Incredible is, well, incredible. She will be amazed by it yet she will be familiar with the phone since it is HTC and Sense-based.

You my friend are a minority... having an Eris with no problems
My Eris did everything amazingly except for being a phone, so you can imagine how shocked I was that my Incredible was a phone as well a multimedia device :D
I miss the form factor and awesome white trackball, but beyond that nada, man I miss that lite up track ball

It's like comparing a Kia to a BMW.. Both cars will get you where you need to go but...

Or maybe my Eris just sucked really bad. I was only able to tolerate it for 2 months.

First part is very true...

Second part is partly true... I was one of the ones to have the Droid Eris when it first came out and trust me that thing was beast, comparable to the Moto Droid speed wise, everything worked perfectly even the dialer, it made good use out of that two year old processor. That is until like two months or so later with the first OTA update HTC released, once it was updated my baby was never the same :(

There is no comparison. It's like comparing dating the chick who played Blossom to Adriana Lima.

Eh, I think the gap between the Incredible and the Eris is a bit more significant than that between the Blossom actress and Adriana Lima...

I was going to go get a free DInc tomorrow (Best Buy Free Phone Friday) but after looking around some sites I saw that the Inc HD is supposed to be released 11/23. I'm really happy with my Eris and was just looking for something newer but I think I'm going to hold out for the HD(as long as it's LTE ready) or an LTE device hopefully out early next year.

BTW, IMO, If anyone is buying a phone with NE2 through Big Red I would highly advise waiting for LTE phones to start rolling out. There's nothing worse than buying a new, expensive, toy and it being obsolete a few months later (Eris for example)

Realize that LTE will take 2-3 years to roll out. I'd doubt I'll see LTE in my area till my 2 years were almost up. IF they build an LTE tower across from your house, I'd suggest upgrading. But most people won't get LTE service for months or years.

Like old folks pissing, I guess it all depends. I live about 20 miles from Boston so I'll see it sooner than most. In regards to my post, I'm actually thinking of going and getting an Inc tomorrow :D I can't pass up getting one (if not the) best android phone for Verizon RIGHT NOW for free. Plus I have the 30 day trial so If I'm really not happy with it I can always go back to my Eris and wait for the next biggest and best :)

Ok, mostly I'm just bitter I won't be seeing LTE for a while. Still annoyed from when I was choosing between the EVO and the Incredible. Didn't not like the prospect of paying $10 a month for an extra G I would never get till I was on my next phone.

I ended up buying an Inc and keeping my NE2 for when LTE's start rolling out. I also checked on verizon's website to see when LTE would be available in my area and it says by the end of 2010 so I'm pumped!

As far as the Inc Vs. Eris. I haven't had my Inc that long but it's so much smoother and faster than my OC'd Eris. I miss a few things I had on my rooted Eris (wireless tether, root explorer, and especially my circle battery in the notification bar :() but this is a great phone and I'm glad I picked it up. If I had to use my NE2 on it I don't know if I would have this close to the end of the year. But using an un-used upgrade on my family share was WELL worth it

We just picked up an Incredible today. So far, so good. My wife jumped at the chance to upgrade.

One huge problem - couldn't sync with gmail. She never uses it, can't remember anything about the account. Tried to reset the password, got the verification question wrong, tried to contact google without the answer to the question without success. Now they will send the password to your phone, but that wasn't set up when she established the account. I'm going to set up a new gmail account, have the old phone sync to it, then resync from the new phone.

As a bonus, Verizon matched Best Buy's current promotion - got her Incredible and a DroidX for me, both for free after rebates. We were going to get a new phone for my son anyway, so he can upgrade my phone in the next month or so when I'm eligible.

If the Incredible HD comes out within the next 30 days, maybe we'll both switch.
