1.) Will this for sure break root

2.) If I update to this OS, can I re-root using one click method with 2.3.20?

3.) I have mentioned it before - OTA Blocking on root please???

I am willing to break root to try it out and re root, but I need some feedback, if possible, first.

1. Yes.
2. Don't know about one click, but standard rage exploit and a few unix commands to regain root works (I did it twice today).
3. Outside of my abilities :)

So would it be advisable to unfreeze frozen apps and uninstall anything that was root dependent prior to doing the OTA???

Unfreeze (might as well) - T. Backup everything - OTA update - re-root - T. Backup restore. DONE That's what I will be doing at least.

However, I have had root applications exist on a non rooted phone from Market restores, but I have never launched them in an unrooted phone. Maybe best not to.

Then again, my D2 was rooted within a couple hours of getting it, so I guess I don't have too much non root experience anymore.

Yeah that's what I think I'll be doing. IDK, my phone in the last couple of days has been unsually laggy and jumpy (between 1x and 3G). Used to be I'd just do a factory restore ... but with it being rooted ... not as clean cut.

I don't get to spend much time here but, since the OTA 2.3.20 update this is what worked for me.

Had to go back to a 2.2.20 rom backup to install it.
I was able to use my terminal emulator to reroot and had some Super User issues but an upgrade took care of that.
I was also able to deodex the OTA update and move whatever .apks to my sdcard that I don't use.
I also was able to OC the system and am now running it at 1.3 ULV with no problems so far ;).
I am using Droid 2 Overclock to set scaling frequencies and Set CPU for profiles, I am letting Droid 2 Oc set my voltages and as I said it's working.
The only major issue I had was installing my favorite theme (Black Glass), I tried twice and both times it put my phone in a boot-loop. Thanks to Rom Manager and my habbit of rom backups after each step I was able to go back and am now themeless.

Any way, I'm Happy :) screen shots included.

More and likely the port for that theme is based on 2.2 so it will put your phone in a bootloop unfortunately.
