Verizon annual upgrade

my dad has the primary line on my plan and he pays more than 49.99 per month so he qualifies for the annual upgrade... i wanted to know if i can use that upgrade as an alternate upgrade and upgrade my samsung reality to an htc incredible using his upgrade????

Are you on his Family Share; if so Yes you can. If you are not just have him upgrade the phone then wait like 24 hours then transfer his old phone back to his account and transfer the Incredible to yours. Just be sure to remove the Data from his account.

FYI Best Buy has the Incredible FREE for their "Free Phone Friday" today. Best Buy will honor all Alternate and Annual upgrades.

Good Luck!!!

thanks.... he has a bb rite now so he has a data plan
what do u mean by
just be sure t remove the Data from his account?

if he uses his upgrade to get you a phone, he has to turn off his bb and *228 to activate the new phone to clear the esn. he can then turn off the incredible reactivate his bb the same way and you are free to activate the incredible.

Can you use a family memebers upgrade on an Inc IF the phone isn't on a data plan? Sound confusing, a little bit. I want to use 1 of the available upgrades on my family plan to upgrade myself (main line) to the Inc. Both of the other upgrades are on dumbphones. Is there anyway around being charged a 2nd data plan and upgrading to the Inc WHILE keeping my NE2 on the main line. Trying to have my cake and eat it too haha. Thanks in advance

You can use the other person's upgrade for your own upgrade. As long as YOU get the data plan that comes with the INC, it doesn't matter. My dad used my mom's upgrade eligibility on her dumbphone to get an INC for himself.

Wait so let me get this straight, If you pay more then 50 a month for primary line you get a annual upgrade as opposed to the 2yr? If so then why does it tell me I have 10months left of 2yrs, and I pay 104 for the main line with the incredible.

Because that is your New Every Two timeline. The Annual Upgrade just lets you bye a phone at new contract price and you need to re-up for two more years. You also lose your NE2.

Im still not following what is the difference between both methods beside waiting an extra year?

From VZW Website:
You are automatically enrolled in our New Every Two program when you sign up for a two-year agreement on a calling plan with a monthly access of $34.99 or higher. If you maintain service on a calling plan of $34.99 or higher and fulfill twenty months your two-year term, you will qualify for a free phone. If your calling plan monthly access is $79.99 or higher for the entire three months prior to completing your New Every Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $50.00 toward the purchase of that phone. If your calling plan monthly access was between $34.99 and $79.98 at any time during the three months prior to completing your New Every Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $30.00 toward the purchase of that phone. When completing your New Every Two upgrade, you will need to renew your agreement for another two years on a calling plan with a monthly access of $34.99 or higher. You can also transfer your New Every Two credit to another line on your account.

If you replace your handset at a discounted price, before fulfilling 20 months of your two-year term, you will forfeit your New Every Two benefits and be automatically reenrolled if you meet the requirements of the program.

New Every two gives you an ADDITIONAL CREDIT. Annual Upgrade just lets you upgrade at a new contract price every year. But you also renew your contract for another 2 years.

If I bought my phone on 10/1/2009 my Contract End Date is 10/1/2011 and my New Every 2 Date June 1, 2011 (NE2 is at 20 Months), on 10/1/2010 I can upgrade at a new contract price but then my Contract End Date then becomes 10/1/2012 and my NE2 Date is June 1, 2012.

Hope this helps....

That is a big help, thank you for providing that info. One last dumb question...It says if you maintain a plan of 35 or higher you qualify for a free phone, does that mean any phone, and Im getting confused how they give you 50 dollars off if 3months prior you maintain a 80 or higher plan...how can they give you 50 off a free phone? I know your pulling you hair out saying how doesnt he get it..lol

The plan you have to maintain at $35 or higher is the Voice plan NOT the Voice+Data.

You do not even need to activate it on your dad's line. Simply call the 800 number to activate instead of *228. Tell the representative you are doing an alternate upgrade and they will take care of activating the phone on your line, so your dad's won't even be affected. I just did it for my wife, and when I ordered her phone online, I was even able to select alternate upgrade when purchasing the phone. When it came, everything was already under her number, and I was able to activate using *228.

Isn't there a $30 fee to excercise the annual upgrade option?

From the verizon website
"You can get a new phone every year with Annual Upgrade. Sign up for a 2-year agreement on a calling plan of at least $49.99 and you can purchase a new phone at its promotional price through My Verizon every year with a 2-year renewal (upgrade fee may apply)."
The Annual Upgrade program is available to any line of service billing $49.99 or higher per month. You do lose your New Every 2 eligibility, as that is wholly dependant upon fulfilling 20 months of a 24-month contract. There is also a $20 Annual Upgrade fee. On a Family Share plan, the primary line is the only line on the account eligible, as it is the only one billing more than $49.99 per month.

If you bill at $79.99 or higher per month, the Annual Upgrade fee of $20 may be waived AND you may still be eligible for up to $50 off your phone if you sign a new 2-year agreement* (like the New Every 2 program, except it is only up to $50, whereas with the New Every 2 it has been up to $100 in the past).
